Thinking of building a new soon, planning on;
2,048MB ATI FirePro V8800
A-DATA Gaming Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3
Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB 7200 RPM
AMD Phenom II X4 945
unsure as to what motherboard to get.
misc;
ASUS MS246H Glossy Black Widescreen LCD Monitor
I've got a 550Watt Powersupply I'm currently using, going to see if I can get away with that, if not I'll probably see what I can get at the time.
It's like a $1200 workstation GPU to boot, lol. It'll run it fine.
Well for $1500 he better need it for work. :<
majority of my work gets either started/finished at home either way, but I can handle that on my current card no problem, any suggestions for something cheaper then? going to have shit load of cash to blow in the up coming month
Ouchgl with the fan boys, btw I like that text

If square wants to steal some of the WOW success then sys reqs will have to be very generous. I shouldn't have to build a new pc to be able to play this on day 1
Not being snobbish, but SE has given a very good alternative then spending butt loads for a new PC. Across the several XIV boards I frequent, a good majority of people will go the PS3 route for this reason specifically.
We'll have to remain and see how SE handles the Settings option though. I'm sure if everything is set to low/mid-low, most gaming PCs built in the last couple of years should run it fine.
Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 cpu -285$
ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 - 290$
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - 150$
ATI Radeon 5870 GPU by any company you prefer - 400$
Corsair HX 750w PSU -120$
Cooler Master HAF 922 mid tower case - 90$
WD 500GB/1TB w/e size you want 80-110$
Whole thing for 1335$ Make that around1450$ after adding HDDs
ATI FirePro V8800 is a waste of money if you are not going to use it for specific 3D work [3Dstudio Max/Maya/etc], V8800 is like a Radeon 5870 2GB iirc and thats about 500$ and for about 200$ more you have the current gaming behemoth 5970. [I got a humble passive 5750 but just because I want a silent PC, think I will be able to get away with it for FFXIV]
I would use the extra money to get a really good motherboard, more ram, a good monitor, a good case, a really good PSU or a SDD for SO/Programs.
Best choice if you are not in a hurry is to wait as close to the realease date to get a new system.
That was my intentions, but my system I'm currently running is 2-3 years old but the specs on the system are nothing amazing because I built it when I didn't exactly have a ton of money to spend, and my previewus setup had just taken a shit on me because my GF thought that you could pull the cords off of the cards and what not with the system on.
End Result, I got to save 50$ on a 550Watt power supply, that's it.
Oh and I got a chance to smack a bitch that day. :D
I just recently bought a graphics card for this game and the card was the
GeForce 9400 GT
the minimum for the game was
GPU
NVIDIA® GeForce 8800 or higher VRAM 512 MB
Radeon HD 2900 or higher VRAM 512 MB
(Will most likely get tuned down to 256)
however when I was doing the alpha yesterday it was REALLY choppy. Even with auto run I was still running slower than other people.
Processor is 3.0 Ghz Dual core pentium 4
3 GB of DDRRAM
Windows XP 32 bit
150 GB Hard drive
Not sure what else should be posted
