im pretty sure you dont need PCI-E 2.0 to run cards, with PCI Express x16 is fine. I have a GTX460 on a PCI-Ex16

I cant hook it up to the cpu's power cuz the adapter has 2 6pin PCIs, and all thats available in my PC is 4 pin molexs. Anyone give me advice on this before I have to take it in? Do I just need to get a couple 6 pin > 4 pin adapters and that'll get me goin?
Guess thats the problem, it happened the same to me with my GTX460. With my card there were a couple of adapters.

Really? Well... kewl then... Try adapters or new Power Supply... I've had issues trying it myself with buddies computer. But that may have just been his MB

I can't find that model on web very easy... Is that a Laptop? Packard Bell.... I haven't seen one of those for YEARS. EU I see has them still... sorry their web site was aweful. And they don't sell anymore in the States.

Geforce GT 320M... or is it 9800 GT 320... or what is it... ?

If it's a laptop then no you can't upgrade... it's on board. If it's Gygabyte - EG43M motherboard then yes you can handle anything PCI-E 2.0... 460 GTX is highest price point I'd suggest. I don't know if your power supply can handle it, but MB can.

    ~$200 for GeForce GTX 460 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP
    ~$230 for GeForce GTX 460 1gig 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP

Honestly GTX 460 is best price / performance... only reason to get a 480 is if you don't have an SLI board, cause 2 460's out performs 480 and 250-260 cost about the same price for whatever reason.

Newer Video cards need 6 Pin vs older 4 pin... Newer 450W Power Supply or more ... (Easy to tell by looking @ connector connected to current Video Card)

    GTX 480 Needs 550W PS.

Upgrade those Drivers! ~ Reminder to all the folks who upgraded to DirectX 11... Don't forget to get the newest Geforce drivers... boosted my system performance by 200 points on beta test... FYI

    It's named 320 but it's a 220 and no It's not a laptop. It's a home multimedia PC.

I'm afraid your not going to be able to use the 260 even with the Power Supply your MB isn't going to be able to take it... sounds like your computer is ~ 3 years old. I saw 8400 video cards availible that you could use... but that's your limit.

Actually looking up spec's your computer could be as old as 4 years old no younger than 3... My computer is ~2 years old and was one of the first with PCI-E 2.0.
When I purchased the Zotac card, I gave them my specs and they said it was able to run in my computer. They asked me if It had PCI 1 I think? I replied "I dont know how do I check", and I got "oh If It used the radeon 2400 it can use this". The computer is about 2 1/2 years old.

Back to my original question I guess then...can I just find some 4pin molex > 6pin PCI adapters and it will work?

yeah pcie 1 is fine as long as you don't run it 8x..
usually the card will come with molex>pcie power connectors. make sure though.

If it doesn't come with them then you'll have to buy a Power Supply or see if local computer shop has any adapters. Not sure if Comp USA would carry them.

Pretty sure I can get the adapters locally, I was just seeing if anyone knew if it will actually work. As for having to buy a new power supply, sounds complicated and expensive

Power supply cost ~$55 at Comp USA ... really isn't that hard to do. It's 5 Screws and a few wires, nothing can be plugged in backwards. Unless you have a thin computer it's easy as pie.

I can't put a CPU in a motherboard, but if you can put in video card should be able to put in PS.

Yeah CPUs are the only thing that's tricky about building a computer. Everything else is pretty simple.

It will work if your PSU can handle it, but according to what I googled about your PC, it has a 300W power supply. There is absolutely no way you're going to be able to run that video card with that, at best it just simply won't work, at worst you'll fry the PSU. You're going to need to get a new one.

As said above, the PSU is easy. It just LOOKS really intimidating with all the wires. Usually you just unscrew about 4 screws and unhook everything, then pull out the old PSU. Look at the types of connectors everything has as you disconnect them. Then, you slide the new PSU in, screw it in, and simply use the same connectors and plug everything back in. Things generally don't have to be plugged in any specific way, as long as the connector fits it'll get power. Then you'll just have to find the PCIe connectors, and hook them to the video card. It's really super easy and virtually impossible to mess up... at worst it'll just take you some time if you've never done it before learning all the different connectors and such.

Does anyone know if FFXIV will support using xbox360 controllers? Since I have never played any pc games it will either be a crutch or a familiar transition for former console gamer.

I've been using one on and off in the beta, it worked perfectly. Everything was detected automatically after I plugged it in and ran config.

I played beta with my 360 controller, even the triggers work, while I use official drivers from MS for the controller.

    edit: beaten XD

Do you not have to buy that little program to get the controller to work in Windows 7?

Nope, everything is plug-and-play with the official drivers from Microsoft. No trickery needed... which was a relief.

That I would not know, I got XP. Just had to download drivers from Microsoft's site.

Seriously Mid rage AMD's arn't bad at all... that's their market. Intel's market the upper end.

Seriously look into getting an AMD... I'm an Intel person, but if I had to go on a budget I'd get an AMD in a second.
Currently intel is owning amd with respect to xiv performance. I recently got a 1055t and kinda wish I had gone with a 930 or 760 instead. If I could go back I prolly would. Only hope now is that the bulldozers come in an am3 variant that have the parts thubans lack to perform with current intels. I'd love to be able to drop in a new cpu next spring and be rocking, but it's all in the dice now.
