heys, well im just about to purchase the below, needed a final opinion from you guys on whether its good enough for top specs, but more importantly if anything can be improved / reduced. Im budgetted atm so cant reach for the 480GTX though i heard that 460 is still excellent.
Core i7-930 (2.80Ghz) 4.8GTs/8MB cache
ASUS P6X58D-E DDR3 Motherboard SATA 6.0 GB, 3 way SLI
6GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM
2GB GeForce GTX460
1TB Serial ATA 3-Gb Hard Drive with 16MB cache (7,200rpm)
Corsair 850W PSU
22dBA Tripple Copper Heatpipe CPU cooler
Onboard 8 Channel (7.1) High Def Audio
Windows 7 Home
Also, as a slightly off topic question, is the G15 keyboard worth it? The difference between G15 and G19 doesnt seem worth while but as ive not tried the G15, is it worth it over a standard keyboard?
I would look at G11, G15 version 1, or G19. The G15 version 2 sucks ass, and stripped of all its features is worse that many multimedia keyboards that come bundled with prebuilt PCs.
My current setup is fairly similar, so I thought I'd throw my benchmark numbers our there for your consideration.
Core i7-930 (2.80 GHz)
ASUS P6X58D Premium
6 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM
68 GB 7,200 rpm SATA HD
1 GB nVidia GTX 465 (OC'd to 751 MHz)
Corsair 850W PSU
Low (720p) score: 5518
High (1080p) score: 3436
It's definitely not top specs, but it's playable.
How playable on high? The pc is being bought more or less 90% just for FF14 lol.
is there any real difference between the 1GB 460 and the 2GB 460? And how is the 465 better? (only costs £4 more :s)
Also is an 850W power supply overkill?
If you plan to get another 460....no i think even then its overkill >_> 550W should be enough for your system as it is.
400 series gpu are extremly hungry. 550 might power a 460, but it will never power them in sli. If you plan on OCing your CPU, GPU or RAM 550 is stretching it.
a single 460 uses 270watts at 100%. So SLI definitely would require the 850.
depends on the game you are playing. having more memory is better if the software uses it.
Also, if you want to run the 3 monitor (incredivision?) you will want the 2gb
Hrm. My CPU and GPU both have a minor OC (talking 3.2GHz with 2.8GHz being stock and like.. a literal *barely* OC on the GPU) and it seems okay. It's a Corsair 520W Modular PSU, using it with the Phenom II X3 720 and GTX 460. Then again, the reason I run it okay could be because the 720's not a power hungry whore.
Yeah it honestly makes no sense to me lol, my parts are fine and every other game i've thrown at this machine runs it fluently (crysis on gamer settings at 50fps etc). Hoping they fix nvidia cards with this game on release, I was under the impression they supported nvidia over ati...from looking at their logo.
Geforce 9600GS 768mb
2.50ghz quad core
8GB RAM
Why is this running so slow on lowest settings?
Your GPU is the one they have on the absolute minimum system requirements, on which they still do not promise smooth gameplay on the lowest settings, so yeah, your GPU is starting to get old.
Also a bit more specific info of your CPU would be appreciated, even though I'm still quite sure that it's mostly down to your GPU why you can't run the game very well.
question:
is there a real difference in performance between and AMD Phenom II X4 955 B.E. and a i5 760 in gaming?
I know the i5 is better in some things but im only interested in gaming. With AMD I can save up to 100€ (both cpu and mobo are cheaper) but if the i5 would bring me better performance (better minimum fps or more stable fps) i could consider getting the i5.
PD: Im gonna play in a Ful HD monitor
So is the consensus that the nVidia line runs this better than equivalent ATi stuff? I'll probably be making some changes soon and since this will be one of the only games I play, it'll affect the choices I make.
