Overheating can happen if you have close slots and 3rd party cooler design, I have to have my stock design on top because the vapor-x is thicker and blocks the vents. Just make sure that the slot you are putting it into is x8-16 and not limited to x1 or x4

CF doesn't work if the program is windowed (has to be true full screen, not boarderless window either) so that's why only one GPU was being utilised.

Thanks! You've been super helpful. I know window mode means only one GPU, I was just surprised that MSi Afterburner was telling me the 2nd GPU was being used and not the 1st (main) one. I think it was confused as CCC was showing the main GPU in use.

I think you're right about the cooler. They were literally stacked on each other with no room to vent.

2 of those with the fans of one on the bottom of the other. =/ My third slot is good to go as the mb is meant to handle a three-way SLI/Xfire setup. The 3rd slot is just above my PSU though, so I hope there is enough room to vent still, haha. I'll let you know how things go when I get the longer bridge in a few days.

Should be fine, I have like 1cm between my cards and the vapor-x is ~5mm above my soundcard (although it only comes out half the distance that the GPU does). Must have misread on the MSI AB thing, but yeah I have had some random readings from it before.

Just as a prewarning I guess, but AB will display the 2nd card as being at it's default clock (ignoring any over/underclocking) when not in use, ie on desktop or playing games while windowed, this is pretty much an error that AB has when trying to read the 2nd card while it's "off". I was wondering why my 2nd card was displaying an incorrect value most of the time for a while >.>

I got my new longer bridge connector today and my crossfire setup is going a lot better. No over heating, no graphical glitches, both GPUs are sharing an equal load, ect. Only thing is the bottom card just about the PSU is running about 10c warmer than the other card at all times. Not a big deal. It must be from being above the PSU or having my wifi card right above it.

Looking for cheap laptop that would also run ffxiv, will these specs be enough to run it?

    • AMD A-Series Quad-Core A6-3400M 1.4 GHz
    • 4 GB (2+2) DDR3 1066 MHz RAM, max. 8 GB
    • AMD Radeon HD 6520G

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not really sure... even if it runs, might be pretty horrible experience ^^; Also, you're sure about that CPU? Is it really only 1,4?

Yeah its 1.4 in that model. I guess I should look for some dual core 1.9+ processor laptop then, thanks for your input.

Can anyone advise some general settings on a high end PC to get this game running smooth. Silly me for thinking i could run everything pretty much maxed out given my setup but sure i should have expected no less from SE. My setup is:

    Asus Sabertooth P67 RB3
Intel Core i7-2600k - Running stock
    16GB Corsair Vengance Gamers Ram
    HIS HD6950 IceQX Turbo 2GB - Running 900 & 1325

Appreciate any feedback. Playing around with it now but only seem to get really smooth on low-mid config but game looks like shite and surely this system can handle more?

Overclock the CPU, 4.4ghz or so should do. FF14 leans very heavily on the CPU, and no CPU at stock clock is going to be able to run it at 60fps in any remotely crowded area. :/

Currently running on the stock CPU cooler didnt wana burn it out but ill give it a try. Im using the reccomended Game Window Relocator that was a few pages back and seems to be helping out alot. Espeically the bar gone at the top anyways. Thanks for the reply.

Could you reccomend any decent site for guides on the missions / quests / jobs etc i havnt played in months and much has changed? Cheers

Oh, yeah get a better cooler before you overclock, I definitely should have mentioned that. ><

As for a reference, I like http://mooglebox.com/. It doesn't really have quest guides though, and really I haven't found any site that has a good guide for them. Maybe someone else can chime in here. Luckily with them being marked by ?s now and the Journal map leading you right to the objective they're pretty easy.

Any chance a Raedon HD 4670 can run XIV? My brother sent me this to replace my HD 6800 series to pinpoint if it was either the card or something else causing my display problems.

If it helps, here's the actual model:

Good to know. I'm not sure how big of a difference there will be between this and my 6800 in terms of graphics, but if it keeps my screen from fucking it, totally worth it until I can do a slight upgrade and send this to my friend over the summer when I build my new PC.

    I believe its a pretty big difference between a 4670 and a 6850

It is. Friend directed me to pass mark and all I can say is... holy shit. If it's the card that's causing my corruption in games I'm replacing it ASAP instead of keeping the 4670

4670 is more of a "I don't mind integrated graphics, but I want to make sure my farmville FPS does not dip below 60" kinda thing
