PS3 save files for ps1 games

Sorry, didn't know if I should post this here or tech but I figured it would get more views here.

So in my free time I've been going back and playing FFVII and trying to get a perfect game. And when I say a perfect game I mean I had already reached the max time of 99 hours before I was half way through the first disk. All in all I'd guess I put in over 200 hours. Today I turned on the system to play and it won't let me click on the continue screen to load up my save files. The ps3 still says I have data saved but nothing is loading.

As you could imagine I am VERY frustrated at this as I've wasted much much time lately on this game. Any info on this happening? I googled and couldn't find shit.

Just an idea, but you could download one of the Virtual Memory PS3 FFVII save files that people upload at gamefaqs.com.

    >> Final Fantasy VII Save Game Files for PlayStation - GameFAQs

Try using that file to troubleshoot the problem, find out where the gamefaqs.com file does/does not work.

DO NOT TRY TO MOVE AROUND YOUR FFVII FILE, that may be the problem.

If worse comes to worse, and you can't do it, there's a save file on here that has Cloud lv41, all limit breaks unlocked, that is still in disc 1.

OH, also, have you tried starting a new game and saving it? will that let you press 'continue'?

    Good luck.

I'm not sure how it works with downloaded games, but did you check to see if you had the proper memory card assigned to slot 1?

I've had problems with PS3 corrupting the actual memory card files for a PS2 game I was playing. I imagine it can do the same with PS1 memcards, too.

Check your memory card manager and see if the memcard is even accessible. If it is, create a new card, copy that save file over to the new one, then delete the old memcard. See if that works.

Sadly, I refuse to download a file as the reason for playing it was for me to complete it myself. Besides level 41 compared to 99, gold chocobo and all that jazz is just a disapoitnment

Yeah, I checked the card slots and everything is right and the save files are still on my ps3. But for some reason it won't load. Driving me nuts because I had JUST been playing it. Something didn't go the way I wanted it to so I restarted and bam it won't load anymore.

Haha, holy fucking shit it worked. Thank you VERY much. Yeah I had copied the files to a new folder but it still wasn't working. But when I deleted the original it worked.

Thank you very very much. I am in your debt.

Sorry to de-rail and reopen a solved problem, but what is there to do on the first disc that could possibly eat up 99 hours of playtime?

Farming sources, getting everything out of the saucer...god there was a lot I was even skeptical go to onto disk 2 as soon as I did. I just wanted to get everything possible and I suck at that rollercoaster game so it was a bitch trying to get the umbrella.

Got my power up to 255 on every character very early.
