    CCNA question

    Ok back when i was in school last year since our class were in french we learned CCNA 3.1 (because 4.0 isn't in french) for exam 640-801

    I was suppose to go take the exam before July 31th before it expired, but due to new work and all i wasn't able to do it and so it expired.

    But i really wanna get my certification so i am now learning 4.0 from Alumni program.

    But when i look at 4.0 it give me 2 CCNA

    Discovery + exploration, and i wanna know these

    1 What is the difference between the 2 ?

    2. Do i need to learn both for the exam? (that's 8 module for both)

    3. If i don't need both for 640-802 Which one do you recommand me to do?

    Thx

    Cisco changed it a few years ago I think.

    CCNA is now ICND 1 and ICND2, once you pass both you pass CCNA.

    I'm studying for the first one right now.

    I would think so yeah.

    You get a certificate just for completing ICND1 (the CCENT certificate) then once you complete ICND2 you get the CCNA one.

    i see but you still got the possibility to do both in 1 giant exam right?

    Like the old CCNA you could do exemple

    Module 1 +2 in 1 exam then 3+4 in another or 1-4 in 1 giant exam

    btw is CCENT exam also 640-802?

    Sorry I couldn't help you earlier man lol, like I said I got my CCNA in 2001.

    Ill ask around at work tomorrow for you though. There should be a few people that have taken it recently.

    Yeah I'm not sure.

    The books are pretty cheap, but your going to have to buy a lab program which is pretty expensive.

    ICND1=Discovery.
    ICND2=Exploration.

    ICND1+ICND2 = Dis+Exp = New CCNA

    Found this on the internets.

    You didn't renew it to keep it current? That certification expires after 3 years. I'm prepping to renew mine since it expired in April.

    most likely got a higher certification which automatically renews the CCNA since a CCNA is required for CCNP, etc

    You got your answer already, but here's the official link if it makes it any more helpful:

    CCNA - Career Certifications & Paths - Cisco Systems

    Nice thing for re-cert folks... your CCNA is automatically recerted if you pass any 642 test for any CCxP course, or any CCIE written exam. If you do neither, you can always re-take the ICND2 exam.

    My 18 month window between IE written and lab is about to expire, which is going to do me a hell of a favor on recerts, since I just don't have time to worry about it.

    Yeah thanks i got answered what i neededé

    The hardest part was knowing if ICND1 was Discovery and all.

    But now i'll do a quick overlook of both and see if i should just buy the books for 80$ combo (gonna see that later )
