I wonder if they'll be Shiva, Ifrit, Bahamut etc or zodiac gods like FFXII or totally renewed mythology.

The number 12 and Mr.Yoshida as art director would go towards the 2nd option although I'd love to see our FF summon regulars in HD....

I like to see that people who've gotten old since ffxi started and don't have 30 hours a day to play can still get into and do some stuff in this game.

that's really been the draw for WoW lately is that even with 4-5 hours a week I can still do some stuff and have fun.

I was browsing the site today and man, that game looks gorgeous. I'm sad that I'm not 14 anymore so I can't play for 10-16 hours a day (If I'll be able to get 4 in now that would be a lot for me ) but regardless, I hope they make the rewards system less punishing.

anyone notice that elezen and roegadyn have only 1 sub division though its implied that hellguard and dusk wight are the rarer minority, and there hasn't been any mention of a sub-division for the lalafell (taru)

Unfortunately 1 of the goddess has already been mention Llymlaen that saved the fleet at the coastal city of Limsa Lominsa. Personally hoping for avatars again so i can go a taru summoner if such a job ability becomes possible.

as of yet, there is no main antagonist revealed, not even baddies other than mention of the metal-clad warriors.. so I'm guessing it might be a more humanistic kind of battle of people vs people, rather than with beasts only.. or a mix in between...

thats what I am hoping for, I'm not old I'm 20. but when I did all my late nights and hardcore lvling in FFXI I was a freshmen in high school. it's been a few years and now I don't have that much time lol

We have our first named NPC and the naming conventions for Lalafell seem similar to Tarutaru.

I'd be happy if it were an entirely new pantheon..

my point really is that theres 12 characters to work with in the story. not all have to play a major role but at least it makes for variety.

in FFXI it did get pretty predictable that everything good had to come from altana and promathia was the root of all evil but he was also what we're made of. Maybe its just that the scope of the story was so all-encompassing that basically, once you're done with it, theres very little left to expand upon.

I look forward to more exciting mythos in XIV.

also to someone else, uh yea i think I caught the part about there being beastmen, but it was only mentioned in passing about Eorzea's past.. along with the molesting and monstrous giants..

I think the main antagonists in the story would probably be related to the mysterious metal-clad warriors who invaded Ala Mhigo... more than the molesting beast tribes... but theres really nothing in there that really points to an antagonist otherwise...
unlike in FFXI, where (if you have actually bothered to read the history of Vana'diel on the website) it mentions the Beastmen, Shadow Lord and even Promathia from the outset.

I have to agree with this. FFXI was way to item oriented. Items should just be a tool to get to the next challenge.
