friend/shell leader got hit with gardening ban and didn't get account recovered. other friend quit a while back, other friend moved to jp and is never on NA times, oh well.

shell leader also ran our salvage group, i got ebisu to pay for morrigan's robe and now i'll never have it :/. what a waste

Hehe, while I appreciate being thought of, don't let me bring down your awesome achievement! Of course, if you're that torn up by it, you can always throw a few fish my way~

Still at 0/1021. Mr. Supplier has been/still is busy with work, so I've just been doing other things (leveling my NPC, getting a merit here and there, farming BS/KS). Probably have close to 200 KS, and 400+ BS, so when I use those up, I should hopefully have a chunk of cash in my pocket.

Starting to pick up Trumpet Shell fishing again. Market is strong at 19k a stack (I liked it better at 25k, but thems the breaks), selling pretty fast, so I'll stick with it for a bit and see how I do. When my supplier gets back, I should have enough to buy a good amount of gugrus. Of course, I could fish up Gugrus myself, but with the deal he is offering me, I believe fishing Trumpet Shells to be equally cost-efficient, and also a bit less stressful for me.

Optimally, I would like to have my ebisu rod by the next (potential) Fan Fest, wherein they might (potentially) announce new ebisu-related info (or Matsya-Zaldon stuff). I remember wanting to be a part of the few at 2007 to get a rise out of the ebisu buff announcement, but I hadn't even started ebisu at that point. Whether it happens like that or not, I'd at least like to get ebisu rod before some major announcement that makes everyone want to get one all at once (i.e. Matsya + Zaldon = 10,000 coin or something ridiculous) that A. Completely ruins the market from a buying perspective, and B. My ebisu rod is less special D:

As for the MMM announcement today: You'd think I'd be happy. "OMG, fishing in MMM! I love fishing, this'll be fun! Whoah, look at that ring!"

You know what I actually thought? "...those darn Ebisu rod people are going to have an advantage over me. I need to get that rod now, so I can call myself a fisherman again..."

Talk about self-defeating! I'm wondering if this quest me making me bitter...

Long, side-note: No, I don't think a "real" fisherman needs an ebisu. I believe a real FFXI fisherman has fun with what they do, however they do it. Right now, I feel like I need to be the "most efficient" (gear-wise) fisherman to have fun (thus, I need ebisu before I can enjoy fishing), which is an unfulfilling way of thinking.


Edit: Also note I automatically assume there will be fish in MMM that ebisu rod holders will have a distinct advantage with (i.e. fish that always break other rods). For all I know, it might be a quest to catch the most moat carp (again...), or they supply you with a MMM rod.

Since Judge's rod/Lure/Minnow are used for the debugging/diagnostic purpose of testing the fishing system. I suppose it would be superior obviously.

Well im gonna be picking up my ebisu in about 5 hours and let me say it was a pain to say the least. I think i may just hate zaldon as much as nibu lol, but i hope this post brings you hope nibu.

Started off just slowly buying gugs till i had around 125 saved and turned them in all at once and got on my 110th. Phew i thought to myself " the hard part is over" ( little did i know) 1/110 gugru

Decided i was gonna fish my own and lik a buy a few here and there so i got lvl 100, serpant rumors and it began. Having WW lvled i thought this should be no problem. I bought around 100ish lik and fished around 100 of my own( on ps2 so i had to use penguin as well as albatross and getting those are a pain in itself as many know) Anyways went around 0/200ish and didnt have much gil left so just decided to fish them all myself, I figured hey, how much longer could this really go for...

Well 5 sets of both rings later and countless hours fishing lik with god damn lu, zaldon finally gave me the silk. 1/1120.... ( i believe this to be a record on all servers for lik for people that have reported results)

I fished over 1000 lik myself with lu, peguin and albatross, with waders, half the time using apron other half skill body ( forgot to keep track of that for results >.< sorry) with advance support for about half the time and got signboard near the end. I kept results for about 1900 bites.

Total 1917 bites
Lik 798/1917 = 41.6%
Line Snap 777/1917 = 40.5%
Rod break 239/1917 = 12.5%
Not enough skill 103/1917 = 5.4%


With signboard total bites 457
Lik 194/457 = 42.5%
Line snap 175/457= 38.3%

I see it more of a fair deal with some advantages tilt towards the buyer. Because just base on total worth of fishes vs the harness, you are already at a loss + fishing so many ebisu fishes can burn one person out easily and you have to factor in the time taken for ~400-500 fishes to bite.

But then again on ragnarok, i have about 3 buyers and they all declared bankrupt after buying a few of those gugrus lol

Some questions, are you still going to fish all those fishes even after say he went 1/1 on lik or something?If yes, then i think no its not a good deal at all. What i suggest probably is to ask him to liquid the harness then use those gil to buy liks from you at a discounted price maybe. In this way, if he goes 1/1, you won't have string tied to him anymore. Just my 2 cents :>
