Also, I /bowed to Zaldon before I initiated trades. I've done it before, but just throwing it out there that a little Zaldon love (however superficial) might not be a bad idea. Turned in 7 gugrus, got the item, have 42 left over.

Final Tally: 1/372 Lik, 1/1207 Gugru, 1,579 Total Ebisu fish. Just a few short of breaking any records, but I'll takes what I can gets! Probably won't turn in both items until 10 minutes before conquest tally. I'm not taking any chances of Irmilant losing my items between now and then.

Thank you all for your encouragement, and in general, just putting up with all the spam/frustrating posts I placed here! I'll probably have more to say in my next post on Sunday, so right now I'm just going to let my mind process all of the fact that, after so many months, I don't need to worry about it any more!

I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind to either A. Quit fishing, or B. Quit FFXI now that it's over with. The latter probably won't be happening anytime soon, though I might have to take a break from fishing (maybe a tiny one, if one at all). I also have to start paying my bro back for the 4 million gil I borrowed, so I don't want to quit and leave him hanging like that. I have to live with the man, so things might get a bit tense were I to pull something like that on him ;x

I really pushed myself to get to 78 and fish gp every day until I got ebisu and since I've gotten it I've probably fished... twice. Guess I burnt myself out on it but I understand wanting to take a break for sure. Really happy for you that you finally got it.

Rather than rush off to fish legendary fishies, I was thinking of a more humble end to the quest. I might pay Panja-Nanja a visit, and fish of the pier next to the fishing guild for old times' sake. Also need to get a few more GP fish to get my last two items from the fishing guile: The belt, and frog fishing. I sort of put everything on hold, including GP fishing, when trying for ebisu.

Another route me and my brother joked about was that I should start fishing up moat carp! Albeit seems a bit daft to do the lu shangs quest now, and I'll get a few stares from other fisherman who see me using an ebisu at Knightswell, but I confused might just do it. I could, of course, sell my bro's lu shang, buy all the moat carp I can get with that gil, and then give him new new lu shang I get from the quest. Either way, knowing I need 10,000 moat carp, instead of "X" number of fish like in the ebisu quest, seems more psychologically manageable, despite the greater number of fish required.

Hehe, I'll be sure to do some walking around so everyone in FFXI can cast their gaze upon my enormous rod (/blush), but I also plan to leave my character afk at the fishing guild so the rest of the fishing community on Carbuncle finds out.

On the other hand, I don't want that to be interpreted in the wrong way by anyone else on Carbuncle who are working on ebisu and have a terrible record like mine, like an "I have my ebisu, I'm better than you" type of statement. As a matter of fact, I sort of hope my record, and the fact that I got ebisu, gives them some amount of hope.

It definitely will help. If you had given up, I would have been much more scared of this quest, and the grind of FFXI may have weighed a bit more on everyone's shoulders.

But you stuck it out! So so must we!
