I don't understand how people can do this entire quest THEN look up how to start it

People who look it up in advance go 0/1xxx so maybe that's the secret.

I fluked into starting it. I was buying gugs to turn in for fish ranking to get a pelican ring, so i decided to trade em to zaldon when i was done and I got it on my 10th gug.

Currently 0/100 on gugru and 0/400 on liks, with no end in sight. I wonder, what's better, going 0/500+ on each or going 1/100 on one and then going 0/1000+ on another? At least if I had one I'd have some motivation to continue. Right now all I can think of is the 8m+ I've sent down the drain into the black hole known as Zaldon.

I think it would be better to get lucky on gugs and not lucky on lik, since lik are cheaper and easier to fish yourself

if you're superstitious yes, otherwise I don't think any confirmations were really made about moonphase/day/etcs

It's best if you trade on a full moon while facing east irl. I read it in a book once swear2god

I noticed he posted that his fishing level is 81.7, I always thought you had to be atleast 88 to flag the quest.

So I was wondering, what are the requirements to flag the quest and can you turn in fish and get the 2 items before you even have the quest flagged?

You can get the items from Zaldon at any level 28+ (that's when he'll gut stuff for you). You won't be able to turn anything in until you get Sea Serpent Rumors which you can buy at 78~

Dinged 81 this morning 0/9 Lik 0/27 Gug...and so it begins! Bitching: for the past week the GP items been 4k-5k. Now that i'm 86k into Rumors my GP items have been lowered to 2k-3k Q_Q, i'm hoping the next two days to be 5k each so i can get it.

I feel your pain Tri, i need like 12k to get my Ebisu but the sudden halt in good GP items is owning me atm :-\

86 seems way too low for Gugs. Most people don't even start/try Liks until 90, and Liks are much easier. My opinion is try Lik at 90, Gug at 95 (base skill, assumed fishing support+2, and +4 or +5 from armor) but hey, if you can actually get a Gug to 0% stamina, go for it

Got a tell from a local Ebisu fisher today offering me 30 Gugs @ 18k/ea. Almost didn't do it because it dropped me to under 100k and I hate to do that. But decided to do it anyway and sooooo glad I did.
