+88 liks today, now at 0/651, unless I got one and missed it somewhere. 12m invested if liks are going at 18k each. No end in sight, awesome. Starting to think people's accounts are tagged with a "shitty luck" stat that lowers rates dramatically.

Also if ebisu fishers aren't complete dicks on your server you can often get decent discounts for bulk purchases.

Fished for 80 minutes for Lik tonight. Hooked 12, a pretty good bite rate in my opinion.

Drained all 12 100%

Lost 1 to 'Lack of Skill'
Lost 4 to rod snaps
Lost 6 to line snaps

Caught one. Mr #653, it of course was empty.

I've made my peace with not getting the spool of thread when I turn in my fish. It's a slot machine with Lik shaped coins. Same tiny odds with every pull. So no issues there.

But 1 for 12? Really? Really? The fact that the random generator can turn out a catch result like that is just punitive. The session that led to me taking a break was a 1/21 run a year ago. To drain so many fish fully and lose them in those numbers is depressing.

At least my Seagull ring allows me to do this without feeling like I'm using up some precious resource.

I now return you to your fishing.

(Ugh I try not to think that at market prices I have turned in 13,060,000 gil in fish I have caught.)

I am also starting to wonder if artisan's advantage lowers line snaps as both times I did a massive fishing session of liks whilst AA was up I had about a 90% land rate, as opposed to my normal 60% average. This was over 40 fish so it wasn't any form of streak, it lasted for 4 hours.

IT was new moon both times though so Its hard to tell, has anyone else noticed a notable drop in line snap rates with artisan's advantage? Remember you need to have guild support for that to work =P

I just got Serpent Rumors and I wanted to see if I could land any gugs. With advanced support and Seagull ring, I've been able to drain each fish, but I'm not positive if it's a gug. I get the warning message pretty early and I've had two line snaps and one rod break so far. I think they're gugs but could they possibly be Mola Mola?

I've read a lot about cpukiller and my machine is already pretty slow, so my virus scan brought me down to 15 fps and they're easy if they don't stay in the idle position for too long.

It's just really strange. A good strange I hope... I had to mention this because I haven't touched an albatross ring...

I'm going to try without using the seagull ring. Out of 7 I hooked on 2 boat rides, I had 4 line snaps, 1 rod break, 1 I didn't get past 20% and 1 catch.

edit: couldn't get it past 50% without support+ring

You're using the wrong bait if you're catching Mola Mola. Having documented 600ish gug catches I can tell you if you're using meatballs and you see a !!! terrible/positive you don't have enough skill message while on the ope sea mhaura/whitegate boat it is a gug. Fight wise gugs are incredibly calm compared to Liks. They spend a lot of time in one position, they just tend to have a high amount of stamina. I'm surprised if you can reel them in without Albatross. Good for you if you can, you probably have the perfect slow down rate!

Albatross rings gives you like 4x the amount of time to reel stuff in. Yeah, it's worth investing your time to get an albatross ring or 6.

Edit: In all seriousness, get at least 2, so you can use them on back-to-back boat trips. If you only have one, you will have to wait a minute before being able to use it again on the 2nd boat ride.

What he said. Albatross is incredibly easy to get if you have a couple friends with SMN to 20 since it's 100% drop. I leveled SMN to 20 just for this, I've even gotten a M Kris while getting rings lol. I told my LSMates who helped if M Kris drops I'll throw you each 100k for your help. You can live without a penguin's, you can't live without 2 albatross lol. Atleast imo if you want to fish lik/gugs.
