The worlds ecosystem is naturally decimated on Earth every 100k years or so. Earth has gone through mass extinctions before, this time is not going to be any different just because it is sped up a little bit.

Quick someone summon Meteor to help speed up the process more so.

But on a serious note, this information has been available really for years. Michael Crichton touched on this subject with his research for his one book State of Fear. There are always going to be a debate on whether or not there is global warming occuring or not no matter how much or how little carbon emissions are released in the air. Debate on it funds people for research.
