Bobby Jindal is a tool. I stopped listening to what he says after he called projects in Alaska to study volcanoes pork, as if his state didn't receive a mountain of money to study hurricanes. It's all the same shit.

I take back what I said, it's gonna be a few more years

WASHINGTON -- The number of U.S. households on the verge of losing their homes rose 7 percent from June to July, as the escalating foreclosure crisis continued to outpace government efforts to limit the damage.

Foreclosure filings were up 32 percent from the same month last year, RealtyTrac Inc. said Thursday. More than 360,000 households, or one in every 355 homes, received a foreclosure-related notice, such as a notice of default or trustee's sale. That's the highest monthly level since the foreclosure-listing firm began publishing the data more than four years ago.

New Jobless Claims Rise Unexpectedly to 558,000
The number of newly laid-off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly last week, while continuing claims fell sharply, the Labor Department said Thursday.
Falling retail sales put a damper on hopes the recession will end sooner rather than later. The Commerce Department said retail sales fell 0.1 percent in July, significantly worse than the 0.7 percent increase that was expected by economists polled by Thomson Reuters.
Excluding autos, retail sales fell 0.6 percent, compared with expectations for a gain of 0.1 percent.

It's an excellent time to buy a home if you've got the money or if your work is relatively stable. Many lenders are bending their backs just to make sales. I've seen many advertisements for now closing costs and/or down payments. It would be wise to make a decent down payment if you could though. Again, don't buy a home expecting to sell it later on at a profit. It is a lifestyle change you should be seeking.

AFP: Majority of Americans doubt Obama stimulus results: poll

WASHINGTON — A majority of Americans believe that a 787-billion-dollar stimulus package passed six months ago with support from President Barack Obama has had no effect or even made the US economy worse.

A USAToday/Gallup poll released Monday found that 41 percent of Americans think the spending has made the US economy better, but 57 percent believe it has either made no difference or worsened the recession that began in 2007.

Conference Board: Consumer confidence up in August - Aug. 25, 2009

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A key measure of consumer confidence jumped much more than predicted in August, as the job market outlook and business expectations improved, said a report released Tuesday.
The Conference Board, a New York-based business research group, said Tuesday that its Consumer Confidence Index rose to 54.1 in August from an upwardly-revised 47.4 in July.
Economists were expecting the index to increase to 48, according to a Briefing.com consensus survey. The measure is closely watched because consumer spending makes up two-thirds of the nation's economic activity.
The index posted declines in June and July, but the reading "appears to be back on the mend," said Lynn Franco, a director at The Conference Board, in a prepared statement.
"Consumers were more upbeat in their short-term outlook for both the economy and the job market in August," Franco added. But the reading for income expectations rose only slightly.
Despite August's increase, the index remains at historically low levels. An overall reading above 90 indicates the economy is solid, and 100 or above signals strong growth.
The report is based on a survey mailed to a representative sample of 5,000 U.S. households. The questionnaire asks whether respondents think current business conditions are good, bad or normal, about employment conditions, as well as if they expect employment or income levels to improve or deteriorate over the next six months.

The grim administration projections came on a day of competing economic news. The Congressional Budget Office, which has predicted less economic growth than the White House in the past, was also scheduled to announce revised budget projections on Tuesday.

    The Post Office.

"I mean, if you think about it, UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? No, they are. It's the post office that's always having problems."
    Orthopedic surgeons.

"All I'm saying is let's take the example of something like diabetes... if a family care physician works with his or her patient to help them lose weight, modify diet, monitors whether they're taking their medications in a timely fashion, they might get reimbursed a pittance. But if that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that's $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 -- immediately the surgeon is reimbursed. Well, why not make sure that we're also reimbursing the care that prevents the amputation, right? That will save us money. (Applause.)"
I wish I made this up. I do wish.

RealClearPolitics - The President Seems Lost

More and more Obama is being likened to Lyndon Johnson, with Afghanistan becoming his Vietnam. Maybe. But the better analogy is to Jimmy Carter, particularly the president analyzed by James Fallows in a 1979 Atlantic magazine article, "The Passionless Presidency." "The central idea of the Carter administration is Jimmy Carter himself," Fallows wrote. And what is the central idea of the Obama presidency? It is change. And what is that? It is Obama himself.

He is living up to the hype of the people that voted for him. Its the dumb fuck right wingers that tried to paint Obama as the liberal Jesus. He still has 3+ years to fix all of the shit the Bush administration fucked up. The GOP wants to label Obama a failure and he hasnt even been in office a year. Hell Bush was on vacation his first year in office. Obama just now took his.

Lol. Ok So how about I only post stuff from CNN/MSNBC/HuffPo/NYT etc etc.

    Here's one.

Anderson Cooper 360: Blog Archive - Deficits: Why they threaten health reform – and what Obama might do

Deficits of that magnitude would be extraordinarily dangerous and irresponsible for the country. They would double the national debt, risk much higher inflation, saddle future taxpayers with annual interest payments of over $900 billion, make us even more reliant upon China as a creditor, and over time would weaken us as a great nation. Talk about trend lines that are unsustainable!
