I never understood why people line up to buy the same game with just minute differences and roster changes EVERY year. I might buy a Madden once every 3-4 years, as enough has changed to warrant a purpose. Last years incarnation was so bad, and full of bugs though, that I'll will probably never buy another one. It was such a shit game, even after patches.

You can say that about every video game so honestly just shut the fuck up already. Your parents or friends probably wonder how people can sit in front of a TV or PC and play WoW or FFXI and waste time like they do too. Same for any genre of game you may like or fancy.

Cool, don't buy it then. You should agree wholeheartedly with Jack Thompson's agenda in regards to video games then. I mean they are a waste of life right? You could be working out, running or taking a double major in college instead of grinding through a RPG, FPS or any MMO out there.

Well if u actualy read any of that, you might have seen that there is actualy BRAND NEW stuff put in the game (i.e. wildcat formation) and not just small improvements and minor changes.

Ok, look, I can slightly understand how people say lol new $60 rosters. I like Madden a lot and even I don't buy it every year. I skipped last year because of all the bugs and such, but really the success of Madden is not that hard to understand.

Target demographic: NFL fans.

What each new version gives you: updated rosters, updated ratings of players, and new features.

Now let's think about this for one second. Would your usual NFL fan take the time to update all the rosters year after year and jack around with the ratings to make it like next year's version? Fuck no. And despite how long you've run your franchise mode, you want to start it with your current teams rosters. When your fellow NFL fans come over they don't want to play as their favorite team from last year.

Plus now that online play is so big, why would you stick around with a dying community playing last year's game?

As far as why people like Madden instead of going outside to play football, that's an easy answer too. Do people go out and play football and cosplay as their favorite team, set up a massive league, and have people play GMs to trade folks, find new people to draft every season? It's a whole different angle and again, not hard to figure out.

Madden 10 is adding a shit-ton this year and I think is well worth justifying a purchase. In fact, their goal, as stated by the developers is to not leave fans feeling like they just bought new rosters. They still feel like NFL 2k5 is hanging over their head and it is finally getting to them.

If none of the above made any sense to you, seriously gtfo out of this thread. If I happen to see anyone posting some of that crap and if I happen see you getting excited about an FPS, I'm going to tell you to join the fucking military or if you get excited about an RPG, I'm going to tell you to go play D&D or find a LRPG group. Because your argument makes as much sense in those threads as it does here.
