Yeah I am a little confused by that. Every time I have been to church and talked to Christians it was explained to me that Jesus was part of the holy trinity which makes up god.

Jesus may not be 100% of god but he is a big part of him, a human manifestation of god on Earth.

At least that was how it was always explained to me. Which means Seno's little graphic is pretty accurate.

The Trinity are each individual parts that make up the whole... Father, Son, Holy Ghost. If they were one in the same, why would Jesus say "Father, why have you forsaken me?" if he was talking to himself...

I'd rather not get into this shitfest, as they never go anywhere and it's always the same thing over and over again.

BUT, you're semi-wrong. Most Christians would not say Jesus = God. He is the Son of God, that God manifested with his exact self. He is the human version of God, but not God.

As to Old Testament/New Testament. It is the same God, but different...hmm attitude? That's not the right word, but essentially, in the Old Testament, God was full of wrath, and raged against those that disobeyed him. On the other hand he was extremely rewarding to those that did obey and hence many more miracles.

In the New Testament, God changed into trying to save his people vs. punishing them. Thus, creating Jesus as his true Son to save everyone and sacrifice himself so we may go to Heaven. Vs. punishing the people, he essentially, punishes himself by use of his Son.



Feel free to try and nitpick about it, but I'm just giving you an explanation as to why they are different. I am not trying to prove it's real, just explaining how people view the two.

Um, since I posted.. I'm an Atheist. I was raised by Catholics, in the Dominican Republic for a lot of that (if you don't know, the DR has a big Catholic community), but I never really paid attention to it. I was required to go to church and such things, I just never believed it. It was the sort of thing that I "used" while it was convenient, like Santa Claus- I guess I believed in god in the same sense. I've been asked when I "stopped" believing, but I never really did, it was just sort of a thing that I grew into, realizing "Oh, hey, I don't believe in that."

I'm not going to add to the debate (just because I think it's already well taken care of) except to say that I don't care if you are religious or not. I'm like Miz in that I live-and-let-live, so I never really understand the point of these discussions- unless it's just to have fun. Anyone having fun?

I guess it's cool that you have something to believe in, but whether you believe in god or the big bang, I just don't see how anyone can be so certain that they know the truth 100% for sure. in my mind, if there's even a small amount of doubt, it's better to be agnostic than to stick to some sort of hardcore belief that you're willing to defend to the death.

but I also subscribe to the theory of "to each their own," so whatever. my sister is a hardcore believer, but she's respectful about it, I wish more people were like her.

I guess if anything I'm a humanist, except I hate most human beings. we are by far the worst thing that has ever happened to this planet. if it were proven to be true that humans were dumped here by aliens and were meant to infect and eventually destroy the planet, I would not be the least surprised.
