Why do people feel the need to worship something?

Why do people feel the need to look down on others who do not worship something?

Personally, I do not look down on anyone who does not worship someone/something. Those are the religious types I dislike. I do not try to force my views on anyone. I have my questions and my beliefs, as I'm certain others do. Unlike some, I don't go around berating others for having differing views.

The funny thing for me is when people claim they don't look down on others views in one post and then look down on them in their next post for believing something different. I would quote a bunch of instances where this was the case but I am lazy and don't feel like reading through the thread again.

At least some people admit they look down on others for having the views they do. Honesty in the end is the best course of action.

I think I have said this before but religion is ok in individuals but when you talk about the masses then it becomes a problem. This actually goes with any sort of belief that can (not guaranteed) lead to violence over said belief.

Humans are shitty in groups. They do stupid things they wouldn't normally do and act in horrible ways. Now religion by itself may do good for individuals and it may not be bad, I am not making any claims to that point, however the issue with organized religions throughout history is that it inherently brings people together. It bonds them in a common goal and knowledge and belief system. And it has a tendency to bring them together in large gatherings physically as well. This is when you run into problems like religiously fueled wars, and such.

As for labels, I can't say I'm an atheist, as again, I have no beliefs regarding this at all.

Logically I can not say that in the infinite manifold of possible Universes which I have to assume exists, that there is no chance of some deity existing.

I will not worship them though, nor do I think anything is worthy of worship, other than my girlfriends tits. I will prostrate myself before her altar many more times over the course of my life, for it is something truly worth of adoration.

Something can be defined as distinct from something else.

Something can be defined as the same as something else, with the only differences being trivial in as far as logic is concerned.

Something can be defined as true against it's own existence, and defined as false if stated it is included in the existence of that which it is not.



Very simple principles, identity, truth, falsehood, distinguishable, inclusive, exclusive.

These are logical principles, these do not include such batshit insane concepts as "that which is not part of anything, yet is true against itself", or "that which is part of everything, yet is not part of everything observed", or "that which contradicts itself, yet proves itself".

Logic also does not include principles such as "good" or "evil" innately, those must be applied afterwards based on your personal biases.

You can say that the set of men, contains the set of good men, and the set of evil men, you can say that those sets are non-inclusive of each other, but that they both reside in the larger set of men, and are thusly related.

Etc, etc, etc, none of which is involved in any religious stories in any significant way.
