strange issue

was getting annoying computer freezes, so i completely reformatted, everything went smooth etc etc, i get on, and after installing the necessary drivers, i install my modem.

connect to the net with no issues, but since i have done, within 10 to maybe 50mins my connection gets dropped, network connections says everything's fine, if i disable my modem network connections claims it's still connected, but my task bar shows it disconnected.

really confused as i have no idea what's causing it, it was working fine 3hrs before when i reformatted.

any help would be appreciated

also, it's a BT voyager 105 modem, i use AOL but i don't install the software, i simply use there dialbb connection

Things that might help.

In device manager check that the modem's power management. Make sure 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' is unchecked.

Try moving the modem (away from other things like the PC tower), sometimes you might get interference from other devices. I know I did with the BT voyager 100 and a wireless mouse a few years ago.

thanks for the advice, it was checked, so i unchecked it, and have moved it as far as i can from my tower, now to see if it helps

unfortunately it's still the same shit, i'm being disconnected, but the connection is still on

You are using the newish 'network pass' right not [email protected], it will be your phone [email protected] if I remember right if you are using this.

You have to ask aol for the info if your still using the old [email protected]. They said they'd send out letters with this information, but nobody I know got one.

so i did some searching and i'm getting the error message that windows is closing generic host processes, which can be connected to internet issues

anyone have any experience in this? bearing in mind i'm finding it very hard to get service pack 3 with my internet constantly messing up

ok so go everything working it was something to do with windows updates, but now my computer has started freezing again, which was the exact reason i reformatted in the first place, anyone have any idea's?
