With ranch dressing? I like the theme of making healthy foods tastier and cutting out the healthy part.

celery also makes your hands smell like it for 6 hours.
I'm typically restricted to eating with my parents during the week, and my father is obese so he thinks everyone else eats like him. We end up getting fast food or ordering in 3-4 times a week and if I don't go get it myself and order for everyone then he comes home with two or three times more food for me than I wanted, which goes uneaten and gets thrown out. inb4coolstorybro, but it's a pain in the ass to constantly say "Don't get me a drink, I'll drink water" or "Just get the small" and then have to throw away the food and waste a ton of money.
All I can remember is their fries are good but their buns are soggy as fuck. Chili is ok for fast and efficient heartburn on the go. All the major chains but MCD (where I refuse to go) and Wendys switched to those fries with the pre packaged seasoning shit so I don't do FF anymore for fries because I do no salt on fries lol. I like Jack in the Box baked chicken strips. MCD salad shakers; I remember those. Are they still doing them?
I actually like to get the Chicken BLT salad at Wendy's. Get an extra Crouton and Italian dressing packages with it. Its very good.
it was similar living with my parents. it's a little heartbreaking to listen to my diabetic brother dictate to my parents what he wants from sonic or steak and shake every night any time i call over there. hard to believe sometimes that people can be so blinded by their own fatshitness that they won't even make an effort for their kids, but what can you do.
it can also be somewhat difficult to eat healthy on a low budget. yeah, i can afford to go to the store and pay $17 for two salmon fillets or $5/box for the cereal that isn't loaded down with refined sugar, but i appreciate that everyone can't do that. (before i get called on putting myself out there as super rich or some shit, just saying that people who have kids on the same kind of income i have would have to make that money stretch a lot further. same for people with a lot of debt, etc.)
people also can't necessarily cook for themselves, whether it's a lack of skill or lack of available kitchen. i know a bunch of people living in dorms and barracks that just don't have that luxury. even those people have to learn to make good food decisions, because cafeteria food can be every bit as bad as fast food. they use a lot of the same prep and cooking techniques. i could always find a spicy chicken sandwich in my high school cafeteria.
also consider that sometimes you might just leave your homemade lunch in your fridge and have nothing to eat on your shitty 30 minute lunch break. starve all day and overindulge at your next meal or buy something that isn't the best choice ever but gets the job done? not a hard choice for me.
i dunno man, shit's not as simple as it is to talk about.
oh and @stowastiq, i couldn't tell you. the mcdonald's here on base has a different menu from regular mcdonald's and there hasn't been a wendy's within 15 miles of me in about 2 years so i haven't been. also no jack in the box in this region.
Just bought a massive bag of baby carrots yum. Celery has to be stringed/peeled or it is like what you describe. And you are military? Cool. /fetish mode off.
I had to lose weight to have spine surgery and the fast food places all want to keep business so they have something for good diets but we have to mind the toppings and stuff like that. I was able to do it but I refused to completely deprive myself, just didn't get overboard. My mother always taught me to buy bulk to save money for a big family. As just a two person household, I like buying stuff to make multiple meals.
My father actually is diabetic, and when I graduated from college my mom asked me to help curb his appetite because he can get completely out of hand sometimes. I've been picking up meals and ordering smalls for him instead of large, thrown away countless Wendy's Frosties and Dunkin Donuts, and he actually threw me out of the house for a couple hours because I refused to go buy milk for him unless he agreed to drink 2% instead of whole. It's really really stupid shit to argue over, but I'm doing it for my benefit as well as his so if I can change his shopping habits, it'll make my own diet a little less hectic.
It is hard as hell to diet while the rest of the house old is eating cool shit so it is considerate of you to do that.I hope your father is doing well. There are lots of products out now for that kind of diet, some even worthy of feeling like you aren't on a special diet.
i'm assuming your dad it type two? my brother is type one so they've been seriously getting years and years of diet counseling covered by insurance and it's all been squandered. pathetic.
also i feel you on that. my mom was the same way about shit. if you ever went to the store for her and god bless you forgot the giant bag of M&Ms, it was always a toss-up: do you risk going back out and having her call you and bitch you out for taking too long or tell her you forgot them because she told you to get them on the way out the door instead of writing them on the list and have her bitch you out in person for trying to regulate her diet and then guilt tripping the shit out of you? there is nothing worse on this earth than having obese parents. alcoholics will do less damage to you mentally; at least you can at some point grasp why the fuck they are so crazy.
surprised my dad isnt diabetic with how fat he is >_>
ya I hear ya skirkle. I'm a bit of a fatty too, not unhealthy, but def chubby/fat ass.
My biggest fear about the weight thing that pressures me to try dieting like 5 times a year is my mom. She isn't diabetic yet, but she's gotten really really big. Each year it gets worse. It makes me so scared because you know the phrase "you grow up to be like your mom", well my eating habits used to be the same as hers. Of course because I grew up eating the same shit she did. So in my mind I gotta do everything to not end up that big when I get older.
The sad thing is, is she knows there's a problem, but won't do anything. My mom could never get out of the empty nest syndrome. I don't blame her, she only has her brother left alive on her side of the family, so I can imagine how lonely she is with just my dad around. No matter how much my dad tries to get her to diet, she just keeps gaining. ;;
personally i reserve the title of fatty for people who are more than 50lbs overweight. seems kind of retarded to call someone who's still in a normal range (even if it's the higher end of the normal range) a fat shit. if you can still function and your instincts don't guide you to pastries, you're probably fine.
but yeah, i don't know what it is but it seems like a lot of moms like stop caring about their lives or some shit once their kids move out. it's like god damn, i don't think i ever want to have kids because i'd like to still value myself in my older years. what kind of fucked up shit is that
ya it's frustrating cause it makes part of me feel like I'm to blame for moving to cali, but I know that it's not true. Just sucks to watch her essentially deteriorate like that.
for sure when I have kids, gonna try to raise them on healthier habits since eating at home is definitely a key factor on how they'll eat as adults.
i really don't think i ever want to base my opinion of myself and my life on how another person chooses to conduct their life. my brother and i grew up in the same home and now i'm married, living on my own in another state, and looking into starting my own business (yeah miz, actually following your advice). my brother is a drug addict. i don't think parenting is the most significant influence in a person's life, but there's really no way to tell a parent that.
