Bumrushing Bard to 75: Tips?

I asked someone once about using like...bullets, and damage shots, and their response was that they wanted to "focus on the rolls". It took days to put my head back together.

Oh lord, see that's the shit I was talking about lol. If you're going to level Cor just because you assume you can roll twice and stand there for 5 minutes just save yourself the trouble and find something else to do. Ive seen Corsairs that don't have Fold, Snake eye or anything else for that matter and it makes my eyes bleed. Nothing worse than being out of MP and rolling a 9 on Evokers and the guy just stands there because he's never heard of Snake eye or someone rolls a 10 and doubles up and busts and doesn't have fold to erase it. I especially like the ones that refuse to Light shot mobs while you're getting wave raped in Einherjar. "I dinit brng mah Light cardz oll can i bum sum plz". Head 'splode.

It's a damn shame though lol. I mean I know Redmages that refuse to level Drk or Blm as subs because they "don't like leveling them". I mean really? If you're just going to half ass or look for an easy way out, just be gimp by yourself. Bullets aside Corsair is expensive but worth in totally in the long run. Do yourself and your LS a favor and don't skimp on gear because you have other people counting on you in more ways than one.

Both cor and brd are only as boring as you make it out to be.

I pulled on brd in almost every party and never had a dull moment. Brd in merit can be boring, but even as /whm it isn't terrible (unless you have shitty DDs then you regret ever leveling brd).

Cor is a lot of fun if you make both a ranged and melee set and actually make good use of qd. Cor is A LOT more expensive then brd, but can be a lot more fun because you get to actually do some damage.

Either way you will get the merits you want in the end.

I'm considering leveling BRD because I need a merit job. I don't feel like leveling and properly gearing a DD job, when the entire point is to find a relatively non-inventory-consuming and cheap way to do it.

I leveled brd to be a merit whore and now I fucking want to de-level it back to locked. If your in an endgame shell more often than not thats what your going as.

I escape the Brd curse by having Whm leveled =0,

but do love brd for merit whore, nothing like making a couple merits in no time. also always having a party invite in like 5 minutes or less

when I was lvling NIN, I went from lv40-75 in about 8 days (3-4 hours a day PT) because of static pt.
NIN MNK DRK BRD COR + random person + PL. sometimes we even get 2 BRD + COR PT and skip the healer altogether, because we barely need heals and the PL haste'ing the whole PT. I remember getting chain180+ @lv68, much luls.

Merited for my first time last night on COR after recently building its DD set from kraken rng gear I have laying around. What a frickin blast, I assume it was so much fun because 4/6 were decent ls members and we had bottom birds all to ourselves.

Anyways, with underskilled sword going from 200-227 in-pt I still ended up around 15% of the overall pt dmg with sam/nin, sam/nin, sam/war, brd/nin, rdm/whm, and cor/war (me obviously). It was a bit of a blessing they asked for hunters + sams roll since I didn't realize how bad my sword skill was thinking it would cap at 220. I ended up with hunters + refresh roll on me since the rdm never even needed to vert so he didn't need conserve mp or anything else.

All in all, it was a complete blast, and I even went today and dumped 75 ABC's into a brutal earring just for COR lol. I earned 6 merits in that pt and am going to unlock fold + snake eye. As much as I want to dump the merits into more marksmanship skill I know they will far outweigh a little more WS dmg/acc.

Meh, not for everyone, that's why LSs need a versitilaty, i don't always go brd, but that is mainly because i have many other useful jobs, it's only a trap if you let it be a trap. no one can truely MAKE you come brd ALL the time, if they do, either need more ppl with brd, or a resonable leader, it's understandable brd is needed alot, but going as the same job ALL the time is the 1st step towards early quiting. cause honstly, if i have to go brd to everything all the time the fun in the game is lost and there is no reason to play anymore,, since all the shit im working for that brd can't equip won't get used. cause i acttualy LIKE the job, but all the time every time? no...

BRD is stupid easy to EXP on. And for skilling up just spam elemental debuff songs on the higher tier goldfish in sea. Can keep you capped for a long assed time.

If you don't mind making your own level sync pt's, you can do it pretty cheaply level syncing it all in east rona s. That's what I did, I didn't upgrade any gear from level 30 stuff until I hit 75.

I didn't have a choice - I have zero jobs which have marksmanship on except COR. So to stay on top of my skills, I can't afford to sync. And I simply can't face hours of firing cheap bullets slowly at worms or something later on. If I had THF or WAR or in fact anything with marksmanship, I'd agree.

I enjoy both BRD and COR (still finishing COR). I have joyeuse and a ton of gear waiting for my COR but they're completely different jobs. I don't get locked into BRD because I get locked into WHM instead. Suits me. I get to play BLM a ton too but WHM is the job I play the most. I used BRD for merits and occasionally Einherjar.

I count ten things wrong with this post. How many do YOU count? No-name poster, etc. but seriously? Really?

Adding to the thread, having done both Brd and Cor to 75 and loving both jobs.. if you're in need of a merit job only (and you aren't into the heavy endgame scene) just go with Brd. I'd rather see a half-assed equipped Brd with gimp wind/string/singing skills in my meripo than a Cor/Whm meleeing with two archer knives, full AF1, and R.Acc+/Acc-1 rings in my party.

To touch up on something I'm sure someone else is already in the process of typing (or could type better) here are some pointers for future reference I guess. (And some things people are gonna point out)

#1. Middle bird camp > Bottom bird camp
#2. Skill-up when you're with a friend anywhere but in merits. That's like breaking Coffinmaker in a merit PT.
#3. Sam + Rng roll? Wrrrrrrrrry. Learn what is best for your party. Don't listen to a random party leader. Take it upon yourself to know what to roll. In almost any situation where you're pulling ALL birds from middle and having to dip down to the bottom camp Cor roll is going to average out to better XP in the long run. There are instances where two melee rolls are better but that's a whole other thread. Generally speaking.. rule of thumb is Drk+Cor+Smn is a win/win situation (unless your PT sucks. WHY do those Sams need Rng roll anyways!?)
#4. Sch roll on Rdm (I'm assuming this is what you meant by conserve MP) goes back to the above.. "generally" speaking you should have Cor roll up as a second roll on everyone in your PT.. with Drk being the other roll and Smn on your mage.

Merged what I saw into those four things really. Not being mean, just yah.. read up a little on BG on the posts about Cor. There is some really good information on meriting, rule of thumbs, etc. that people like me, callisto, etc. have posted. ^-^
