Let's not pretend we have standards here people.
Sure we do - my standard is "you don't get to make judgments about sexuality while simultaneously hiding your own."

    That's all.

The interesting thing with what you're saying right now, is that in the thread where we had the discussion, the politician in question was not judging their sexuality, but rather rejecting a contentious issue relating to homosexuals and yet you and others still argued that outing was legitimate.

In other words; bitch please. You have no standards. You use it as a bludgeon with people you don't like. Now you say it's only with people who judge the sexuality of others, when in another thread you argued in favour of it because the guy did not support gay marriage. This is laughable.

It's not nearly as contentious as you make it out to be. Do you really think there's, say, more than a 5% sliver of the gay community that thinks same-sex marriage should be illegal?

My only problem with that guy is that he's against gay marriage. If you want to make the argument that he's being as nuanced as this phantom brigade of "gays against gay marriage" in his argument, post some links. Otherwise...

    ...no.

I think i'll take your lack of direct response to the fact that you said one thing in another thread and another here means that i was and continue to be correct when i say that you only care to out people you don't like. It has nothing to do with it suddenly becoming "right" once someone specific is involved. Because you could not make a coherent argument for it if your life depended on it.

I gotta side with archi here. voting against gay marriage while hiding your own homosexuality makes you a pretty big hypocrite, and the world should know what a hypocrite you are. at the very least, the voters in your district deserve to know in order to make an informed vote on whether or not they should re-elect you.

Not getting involved in that argument again. Gays who support any sort of outing for any reason should be the ones most ashamed about how oportunistic they are.

ps: you don't know what hypocrite means, get out.

Obviously it's not among the vast, vast majority, but those who are homosexual - who actually understand homosexuality via living it, who still feel there should be a double standard should have to explain their position.

If the legislator in question gave a particularly vivid explanation about his opposition to gay marriage that had nothing to do with religion, fear, ignorance, or most of the rest of retarded opinions about it, and found a way to articulate his resistance in a manner that shows he isn't ignorant about the reality of homosexuality, then fine.

But he doesn't. He doesn't really discuss it at all. He just opposes, fucks guys, and thinks he doesn't have to explain himself.

I think he does, because I think his position sucks ESPECIALLY since he's not ignorant to the reality of homosexuality. If (insert 80-year old career straight legislator here) is against gay marriage and makes it clear he doesn't have any idea what the fuck he's talking about, that's one thing. But for a legislator to make a decision to oppose gay marriage, WITH PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE of the reality of homosexuality, it's unacceptable for him to not elucidate his electorate with his reasoning. If it takes outing him - which becomes a weapon because of his silence, a weapon of his own creation - then fire fucking away.

Sometimes your personal life becomes important - like when you're making judgments on the rights of other people based on their personal lives.

edit: and jesus fucking christ Kuya I'm at work, give me more than 3 minutes before you start pulling the "since you didn't respond then XXX" card.

you like islam, it's your life. you don't have to blow yourself up in everyone's face. keep it yourself, its personal. Oh look I can stereotype too!

The majority of Muslim's are not extremist nutjobs but the minority give Islam such a bad name.
Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they flaunt the fact in everybody's face. People like those guys from 'Queer Eye For The Straight Guy' & Perez Hilton are a complete embarassment to gay people.
then im sorry if i sounded like an asshole; but the OP seems like he's in for big trouble if he "comes out" and i say then he should keep it to himself.

I, personally, wouldn't give up my relationship with my parents or family for the sake of my sexuality. I value family with no limits; I'd rather keep my sexuality a secret if it mean for me to keep my relationship with my parents/family.

at those religious posts, im defending my religion and explaining it, when i see clear misjudgment by BG's community.

Kuya - if a legislator I don't like happens to vote for gay rights, and is closeted gay, I don't think he should be "outed" if he wants to keep his private life private.

Outing becomes a weapon when a legislator makes it a weapon, and that's the only situation, in my opinion, it should be used. Don't try to paint my argument for outing as any broader than it is.

I completely disagree, though I respect your right to your own viewpoint. people who want to have their cake and eat it too should be exposed, and I firmly believe that. if you really think it's ok to legislate against homosexuality while you're going down to the Capitol Hill restrooms afterwards and sucking lobbyist dick, that's you're opinion, but I don't.

is it hypocritical for a gay man to support the outing of another gay man? maybe, but I'm really not concerned with that aspect of the whole issue. as long as the fucker is exposed and the people get to make their own decision on his behaviour with all of the facts before them, I'm happy.

Let me explain to you how this works:

You and possibly others, are going to dance around the point for hours and hours, wearing blindfolds most likely, to ignore what it is whilst sugarcoating it. What are you sugarcoating? Let me state the facts:

There is a politician who supports policy you don't like and you've found info on his personal life that you hope will get him to lose his election, and hopefully a liberal will be elected.

That's it. There's no other spin to this. It's a political tool to achieve political means, there is no moral right it. It's cheap and decrepid, but it gets the job done. You might well say that another conservative might be elected, but that's not even what matters. You have a chance to attack someone who supports policy you don't, and instead of arguing why his support for a policy is stupid, you think it might be nice to do a little sniping on the side.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, any homosexual who supports outing for any reason is scum.

strong words for something that boils down to opinion, but then again, that's Kuya for you.

for my own part, I won't consider myself scum, but if you want to, that's cool with me brah.

Because a vendetta is delicious and fattening. I am perfectly okay as long as you and archi admit that what you're advocating is neither moral or right. It's a cheap tactic and you should acknowledge it as such instead of trying to give it a nice suit.

edit: it's just my like, opinion man

Look, I don't care if the politician in question sent my sister to war in Iraq (the thing that is most likely to bring my ire, many of whom are democrats and liberal) - unless they are against gay rights their sexuality should be kept out of it. Outing should only be used if it's relevant.

How am I the one that listens like a brick wall again? You can't just take what I say, completely ignore it, build a huge straw man that only exists in your mind, and set that motherfucker ablaze. You're fucking delusional on this issue Kuya - I don't understand it.

If your opinion is that "noone should be outed for any reason" fine - you're entitled to it, you're however not entitled to tell me that my opinion is anything other than what it is.

I think you've spoken for yourself pretty well with this post, better than any retort I could come up with. I'll let it ride on that.
