It's as simple as this
SE gave us Parradamo Tor, (the Attohwa Chasm climb).
Do you really want them, to give us a Tor v2, that requires precise jumping to get through.

1) I love jumping, please add it. people who hate it shut your face
2) pvp - yes. plz. mabye make it mostly instanced pvp zones and then have one or two zones of world pvp. like wintergrasp from WoW but not like that. I dono
3) yes instancing yes yes yes yes yesyesysyeyseyseyseyesy. It's fine to have like a couple SUPER crazy world spawns that drop shit but... if it turns into the system that FF11 was like. Then I'll quit in a heartbeat.
4) servers from all over the world? ehhh.... I dono... it was cool to play with EU/JP people but... messing with auto-translater was fun too but I rather just have different servers.
in regards to gear swaps... they should just make em unusable while in combat. if they make it like how it is in FF11 then they better get rid of that flashing. As a healer, that shit drives me insane. INNNSAAAANNNNEEEEE
Progression is not XP-based, it's skill-based. If you improve your pointy stick weapons skills in your high level job, then switch to your low level job (where that skill is already maxed out for your status) just before the end of the fight, you may end up losing the skill progression for the higher level job..
Basically, all they have to do in the maps is label areas as "no jumping." Each polygon of the area probably has a data table defining behaviors and properties with it, and you put in a line with Jump = True or False.
You could allow jumping in FFXI, label the path up the Tor as "no jumping" and let the GMs watch people chew off limbs because they can't jump the difficult bits.
Even better, they could just label the really annoying parts of the route, say no more than 75% of it, as no jumping, but allow jumping where it doesn't make much of a difference. Not to mention allowing people to jump into areas, but not out of them.
As far as gear progression goes, like some others have said, I'd like to see some type of middle ground between what FFXI currently has and something like WoW. (these being the only 2 MMO's I've actually played thoroughly)
Along with that, some more ways to customize and make your character "your own" rather than just another clone that follows the crowd because wearing certain gear was deemed the best by the end game community. Granted there is math and facts to prove such, but why are there no other options other than haidate to TP in for the majority of the classes that can use it? Why MUST ever BLM nuke with the corresponding elemental stave? How many times have you examined someone in a merit party and thought "they aren't doing it right" because the SAM had full haste instead of a 6hit etc.
I liked the spec/enchanting/gemming aspect of WoW. Sure after a certain amount of time everyone will be running around in the new set of tier gear, but my gems/enchants/spec allow me to separate myself from other who are the same class.
... Stat transfer... Basically transferring stats of 1 item to other because you like it's look more.
'nuff said.
Reminds me of DAoC (damn, been so long, nostalgia), wasn't quite the same, but you could have a spellcrafter put any stats on a piece of crafted armor (overloading it would result in the crafter dying in an explosion along with all items involved, fun to watch). That way you could basically get the stats you wanted on a piece of armor you wanted (not that it mattered, everything was ugly as hell and you didn't exactly have much of a selection to choose from).
Would be nice if you could actually transfer stats though, certain levelranges were just too much of a pain for the eyes.
As long as there are no multi-hit weapons I think I'd be happy with just that. Haste is cool, added effects to weapons are fine, Multi-hit weapons are not.
Pulling from Monster Hunter, things like traps in that would be pretty great. Pitfalls, explosives, etc. I had way more fun just seeing what I could get the next enemy to fall into.
Jumping - Meh, whatever. Maybe they should appease to both and do a ffvii system where you jump automatically at points needed? Not much more to really say on this. I would rather have them fix the areas so that you can't get stuck on a one inch or invisible ledge like you can in ffxi than give you the ability to jump over it.
PVP - I'll be a fucking happy camper if they make a battleground / arena pvp system with rewards tailored to pvp and maybe things like increased runspeed boots or other useful all the time items. The key is to give useable rewards for pvp. Battlegrounds are a lot of fun in WoW, even with the retards playing. I would rather have the game randomly choose sides though than it be Bastok vs Sandy or Horde vs Alliance. Playing battlegrounds with an Alliance character in WoW was really painful. The Dio Ghelspa system in XI is an example.
Instancing right off the bat - I really don't know what was meant by this. If you mean instancing of things like BCNM zones, Dynamis zones, Limbus zones, etc then yes. All of those types of zones should be instanced. By no means should a group be prevented from doing one of those activities based on another group holding the zone. Assault/Nyzul/Salvage got it right.
I really think a game that has the right balance on those things is EQ2. A good balance of public dungeons with harder group based instances located somewhere inside is a great concept. Some rare world spawns, but mostly instanced dungeon crawls.
If you are referring to instancing the whole game, I guess they will do what they have to do to keep lag to a minimum. I would prefer there be only one jeuno for grouping and trading purposes. Hard to set up a bazaar if there is three copies of the main zone (that's if they will be having bazaar's, I would prefer a shop based system where you can sell things out of your home, but that is a discussion for another time).
More raid content - Instanced dungeon crawls are cool. Salvage type system with better drop rates, yes. Instanced Limbus system, yes. Etc, etc. FFXI had enough of this to allow a player to do some sort of activity every day. I don't think the raid/alliance based content needs to be clones of other WoW type games, other than being instanced.
Servers of PVP, PVE - I don't prefer world based PvP, see above.
Servers from all over the world - Don't see any reason why not, especially if they make another auto translate feature. It allows people who play at odd times for their area the ability to group when normally there might not be enough people awake for it. As long as one region doesn't get a head start like in XI.
Something else I would like to see is a website similar to the Armory from WOW. So you can pop on, see what gear a character has, what linkshell they are in, all their different job levels, crafting skill, stats, etc. that is wholly automated and pulls directly from the game servers.
Something like FFXIAH? >.<;
I don't understand what you're saying. Why are skills on my capped out high level job not maxxed out but the skills on my low level job are maxxed? That doesn't make sense to me. I also don't see how someone would suddenly lose skill progression if they switched jobs.
Kind of, that is a great tool. But it's
1) Third party instead of first party (not made by SE, in otherwords), so it has to pull data instead somehow instead of just getting it live.
2) not comprehensive when it comes to gear, combat skills, player stats.
Here's a link to a sample (not my character+I don't want to make this thread about WOW, just referencing a useful tool it has to /check people at work): The World of Warcraft Armory
Also, an iPhone or Crackberry App to manage your auctions would be awesome.
Ya I know of Armory, but didn't play WoW long enough to say how much useful it isPersonally I don't use FFXIAH a lot, but I know lot's of people are basically addicted to it
so I agree that would be a good idea on SE party, but sadly I don't see big chances of that happening. But who knows ^^ As for the AH on Cellphones - they were asked about that once for FFXI, threw the usual system limitations, but maybe the idea stayed there in their mind and we will see it implemented in FFXIV :]
I would hate to see a PvP server and i doubt they would make this happen.
FF has always been a PvE kinda of game, based on great stories and contents
If you don't know something, don't act like you do. The action of blinking is not a necessary component of changing gear. Play another MMO or something, or use common sense at the least.
Also, I hope there's jumping because I like it. If you seriously don't want jumping just because WoW has it, you're a special kind of stupid. That's the most illogical reason not to want something. See, there is this button on a keyboard that does something, if you don't want to do it then don't press the button. I know it's a difficult concept for some. Let's try to move it into terms you might begin to comprehend. Imagine you did not like the Beastmen hats SE added to the game. Okay, so you don't buy one and you don't wear it. Do you angrily suggest SE not include Beastmen hats at all? Do you angrily object to any players wearing the beastmen hats? No, those are stupid ways to react to the situation of Beastmen hats; limiting the possible options of all players on the preference of some not to have an option, is not logical. Jumping simply adds a new layer to character movement, it doesn't hurt the game whatsoever.
I know full blink seems like it's worse, but a piece of gear on a character blinking would look more disturbing than a full blink. Besides, that's not the issue, it's the targeting loss lock that was being discussed.
Also, I'm not opposed to jumping and flying mounts because they are in WoW. I'm opposed to "people wanting flying mounts in FFXIV because WoW has them", opposed to "I want a WoW that isn't WoW". No, fuckoff.
I'm opposed to jumping because this is a RPG, and just a RPG. Jumpan is for shootan and platforman games.
And idiots jumping around look stupid (they'll find other ways to be a nuisance, always will, but it'd be nice for them not to have this one.)
And beastman helms are a bad example, they have a purpose, looks.
Adding things in just because someone enjoys them, yes, that is occasionally ok to oppose. It wasn't done, and now we have had two updates expanding BELL mechanics, and we got a cheese sandwich, but still no fucking new avatars. And no, I'm not a SMN.
I'm sure the effort coding those bells, and meetings & approval (even only a convo in a hallway), could have been put to far better use.
hahaha
"FUCK YOU WHY DONT YOU WANT TO JUMP. FUCKING IDIOTS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS GAME I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT"
