What I don't want: A changing level cap. Set it and figure out how to please people at that level.

I hope that the "solo environment" isn't so strong that you're actually better off doing stuff solo (see also: Aion).

I'd like to see more stuff for small groups (3-4), so I can just head out with a couple of buddies.

    1. HNM's and no i dont want to f*&k with Aery 2.0, there is a way to get this right say random spawn daily of said mob in high level areas soo your whole LS would have to gear and get their fastest and be up and running to make the kill (something like DI and SW)

    2. Better version of dyna something on the lines of a 6-12 man instead of 18+ same drop rate is fine (i thought dyna was great had a decent drop rate and good gear to boot! I am sure most will agree)

    3. There should be more then one weapon that is the endgame item per/job and end all be all of your job/class/whatever i.e Hagun (which i loved since i got it early but still, gimmie a choice of maybe 2-3 others, that way my char is diff then the other char on the streetz of the same job/class/whatever they call it in FFXIV!

    4. I found that the questing could be a little less vague then is was in FFXI for most people didn't or wouldn't do harder quests or missions without a guide of some sort (CoP guide, ToAU guide ect.) to hold their hands through it. You should be able to decipher the quest from whoever or whatever gave you the quest.

    5. Soloability (not a solo game) I still would rather see a bonus for being with people when exping/questing ect. the family game dynamic in FFxi is what made it so great for so long IMHO, I belive alot of mmo's get this aspect of MMO's wrong altogether and even though i can't say that ffxi got it perfect they did do alot better of a job then the rest i am sure in terms of knowing your community. Being a former FFXI player i enjoyed seeing "this guy" or "that girl" or seeing that "this jp gots two relics!!!! damn!!" these are feelings i never got in any other MMO i played. I feel that in most games where you can solo to cap some people don't even talk to others and end up playing RPG and not MMORPG.

    6. PVP that has rewards, Gimmie an item, a hat, some shoes, i dunno gimmie something gimmie a reason other then a title and if you don't wanna..... then let me bet against my Bros for items/gil/whatever we choose to put up for the fight.

    7. Instances sound great and i love the idea of not having the competition of something be due to claim or who's bots are better then the others. I Would like to see instances where only a few of the best LS's on the server beat the boss, maybe give us a battle type instance where its not just one mob but a bunch of small mobs on a hoard type basis, or hold down the fort for set amount of time ect ect sooo many possibilities here.

    8. Modes of transportation that are more enjoyable

9.Keep BS and KS awesome way to make some cash in FFXI!

    10. Pet classes i never played one want to try it out this time around...(iheard none at release but stilllater on maybe??)

    LOLNO.

    Limbus plz.

The "Everything on one char"-concept is definitely part of this: One day you saw someone as an endgame WHM and the next the very same character was in the Dunes leveling WAR. I'm getting that other feeling in Aion sometimes.

    6. PVP that has rewards, Gimmie an item, a hat, some shoes, i dunno gimmie something gimmie a reason other then a title and if you don't wanna..... then let me bet against my Bros for items/gil/whatever we choose to put up for the fight.
No, because IMO, PvP in an RPG is pointless. We're going to play roles, so let's be different instead of balanced. PvP rewards can also be exploited when the opponents decide on the outcome of the fight. However, I'd agree with optional just-for-fun-PvP, in an arena or something. And a broker for bets won't hurt.

Why instances? That's SOOOO anti-drama... What would FFXI have been without all the drama?

Aion pulls a pretty big bait and switch regarding solo content. Come 37, a decent chunk of quests or gear upgrades require groups to obtain. Really, the only thing you can do alone at a modest, albeit grindy pace 45+ is level.

I like the idea of PvP, all this fairy "LETS BE FRIENDS AND FIGHT TOGETHER FOR LOVE AND PEACE AND PONIES AND RAINBOWS OF CANDY" crap can stay away.

to me the idea of PvP is nothing more than testing your strength and reactions against other players. Sure, in FFXI it was definitely more of a "come SAM or BLU and win worlds", but for FFXIV the whole job system is tossed to the wind which means theres a very good chance that there won't be completely one sided fights or overpowered "combinations".

I want the option of fighting friends for fun, I'd rather have the option available and never use it then not have the option and want to use it, they should put it in the game, doesn't mean it has to give "endgame" rewards and armor, but not having it would be like a game in today's world not having Online play of some sort.

I always thought of the autotranslate feature to be warm and inviting. You have red and green surrounding every word, its like christmas. you can say hello, and welcome aboard. It was fantastic!

MMORPG PvP can go to hell outside of a single, isolated Colosseum for 1-vs-1 or team-vs-team fights/tournaments, who are simply competing for a pot of anted gil or equivalent-value, trade-able and sell-able items. (or for fun. read: research)

Adding unique rewards for events that are as love/hate as PvP is a bad, bad, bad idea.

I'm not a fan of PVP. I would be discouraged if there was anything more than pankration/ballista type things. I do not enjoy PVP myself and it attracts the opposite kind of crowd I like to play with.

Pretty sure they already explicitly said that XIV wouldn't have any PvP in it, so I don't know how it keeps coming up in multiple threads.

PvP: Take the worst personalities of XI and give them the ability to kill you. Good thing? I don't need a Magic 8-Ball to estimate a negative answer there. MPK got bad enough in the earlier days of XI. Duel systems have a habit of just devolving into juvenile bickering if you decline their request. It gets worse if you actually take 'em up on it and win, too.

Aion's reminded me of why I tend to shy away from PvP, really. It's usually imbalanced. People have entirely different levels of priority when it comes to it. Ganking. Wanting a solid PvE experience just earns you ridicule when you try to bring up game issues to the devs. As is, MMOs already suffer through economic PvP between legitimate players and RMT alike.

I feel like an arena would be a good place to go, instead of dueling. Kinda like ballista, except less gay.

Thank you. You hit the nail on the head. I wish more people could read this and understand finally and quit bringing up PvP.

Next we'll have people describing how it would be awesome to command an army of 100 NPCs and give them commands to go kill enemy buildings and units (RTS game if you missed it)

I don't want to see big time pvp just because in those games that have both of those elements the pve enviroment becomes limited and everytime new abilites/spells come out chances are it's gonna be abused in pvp until nerfed.

Could you imagine how much of a cluster fuck that would be in 14 if you could have all these classes "max growth" then find someone in the distance then switch to a class that best counters his class and rape him in 5 seconds open world pvp? It would create massive problems imo.

Then he could switch to an ability set that counters said ranged rape.

I don't think it's impossible to do PvP well in FFXIV, it's just horribly unlikely. WoW has a good thing going where PvP rewards are usually only good for PvP (unless you've gotten 0 good PvE rewards). Keeping PvP away from PvE isn't even that hard, the only reason WoW has to balance for everything is because they have world PvP, something I'm almost certain FFXIV wont have. I mean, Ballista and such weren't perfect, but they adjusted parts of the formula within it that didn't affect normal play. The same could be carried out here: Different formulas and mechanics, a large number of awards that are only useful within, no world PvP to necessitate overlap. Unfortunately, this wont happen due to reasons I've already written...in this topic, I think... SE wont see much point in committing too much time/too many resources to something that isn't the main game.

Who said there's gonna be no pvp? .... You know there's a
Ballista community out there, so obviously they like pvp, so to say that there shouldn't be any pvp is kinda selfish.
I honestly hate fighting a computer... That just stands there and does the same moves. Ballista gave me an excitement, a change in pace in FFXI. I liked being able to go brd/blu and trying to figure out how to beat melee jobs. Or trying to figure out some beastly job combo and gear set and not following the usual bandwagon sam/rng and try like blm/thf in 60 cap lol.
And honestly I think ballista made me and I know a few other people, better endgame players than the average player. Ballista made people more aware of everything and just in general better players. I'm not talking about the douche bag ballista players either, talking about the good players lol.

I believe that this is what FFXIV is trying to bring in the whole non-auto attack aspect, i am sure that pvp would be more fun also with more people with skill after we learn the system in FFXIV. Seems SE would like us to learn more on the fly and not use set methods or routines to kill something.
