What was that game where once you die, you have a kind of after life. Where even after you die you can still have a way to help the group. Ive never played it, so i may be way off. I could have been that if you died you could attach yourself to the armor of a friend in some way to help them.

Meh, at anyrate... who said death in a game has to be a negative thing. Perhaps there can be a positive attribute attached to it as well. Lets say you die, and you can perform actions that you could not perform while alive. You could balance it by not being able to inflict damage on an enemy, but we all know that there are many ways people can help win without being the one inflicting damage.

I always thought of that solution to death as being the ultimate out-of-the-box type of thinking.

I'd like the map to show a player's current location, not the location when the map was opened.

I really hope in FF14 they lose the 72hr timer thing like they have in FFXI. When your trying to make a ls schedule and your tied to all these timers it really makes it hard to work out the best possible schedule that works with your members gaming time. Obviously, I hope stuff thats "instanced" will be made so multiple groups can do the same thing at the same time like salvage is designed. I just think if they made it so you could do Dynamis/Einherjar/Limbus 2 times a conquest week rather than a 72 hr time, it would of made the game a lot less of headache from leader/organizing point of view. I really like the way salvage is, that you can go any time of the day you choose. Obviously somethings in the game they dont want people to be able to do everyday but I hope they design a system that is more flexible that people can adapt to with similar events on the scale of dynamis/ein/limbus.

At least make it 68h....72h cooldown was fucking retarded. There is absolutely no reason to have it at 72h, except to punish the people who started late the previous run.

The "tag" system used in assault/campaigns op work well in that regard. Same with "campaign permit" reseting at midnight (WoW works similarly, everything reset at 12am or something)

Anything longer than a day is ridiculous. Simply wanting to keep people from spamming content is one thing, forcing them to build their next 3 days around it is another. The Ixion/Sandworm mechanic would work really well in this case. It might be a little easier with FFXIV being a continuous world and it would make more sense; why would a dragon with massive God Damn wings come back to the same place he's been severely wounded every day?

Because he just needs to grind out that last couple EXP for level 85 on adventurers, and everyone knows Attohwa Chasm is the best camping spot for that mob, duh.

It always depend of the nature of the content. 30min events can be daily, 2-3h events should be weekly/biweekly, anything more is just too much.

The Ixion/Sandworm mechanic worked very well. The fucking 5 hours however, did not. Eliminate wasted time.

Well, if you're talking about something you can plan ahead and start any time (like Dynamis or Einherjar), that's a good point. Burning a whole night every night isn't always fun or realistic. For NM-like world pops though, making the big ones pop often (24 hours or less) allows more people to enjoy the content. If most of you don't feel like it, you can always do it later and you wont feel like you missed a big opportunity or wasted a lot of time. Plus, only the hardest mobs should take more than an hour anyway, so it shouldn't be like every decent reward is a massive investment of time like it is with FFXI.

I wish they would do randomly generated gear that dropped from mobs, and the boss mobs would just have unique appearance and unique stats. I know this would change the way loot is distributed amongst an LS. But hell i dont know, i really dont have time to camp around for hours each day just to get an item, and i really hate it when i cant make my char the best he can be. I want to have both! uber loot and an effing social life.

Looking back at it, I would rather not get any "daily" endgame contents at all. If I'm playing full time, I would like to differents activities every days. Camping Fafnir every days for months, or doing salvage every night for months is what bored me with the game. Sure, in theory, I could have done new contents every days, but in reality, it wasnt really possible to plan it this way. It was really hard to mix group content to ls content.

There is also the problem that some events remained too long in the rotation (dynamis for example should be revamped...it get old after a bit)

I'm not a big fan of outside NM that can be monopolized or need to be camped, but if they are going to add some in XIV, I wish they would give them a 12h repop and a 3-7days debuff that prevent your LS from killing it again immediatly. If you balance respawn time correctly, you could get a decent system that involve some competition between LS, but prevent monopoly.

I love you. Why don't we just design our own MMO together?

You don't have to do it this way if you don't want. Daily content is daily only if you make it that way. It's only an option given to you. Salvage can be done 2 times a week, 4 times for example. You honestly prefer the way of Einherjar Limbus and Dynamis that force you to wait 3 days before you can go in again, just because you can't control your addiction to the game? I'd suggest joining a less hardcore linkshell if that was really a problem for you.

You kind of have to do a lot of it if you want to gear up in any sort of reasonable time frame. Some people aren't fans of one piece of gear a year, even if said piece can last you for 5-6 years due to side-grades.

You know if worthwhile content is possible daily that most endgame LSes will start keeping points for it, and thus you're indirectly penalized by not doing it daily with them as everyone who does gets a giant pile of points to outlot you on everything when you do. Conversely, it's annoying being faithful in attendance, only to see some joe who's rarely there get something before you because they know how to manipulate the system (or it sucks). No system's perfect, but such problems are also why I favor most content early on requiring no more than 6.

Which I guess is a roundabout way of wanting SE to do as much as they can to keep player politics out of the reward process. I know some hate the whole point system of Assault or Einherjar, but there's no mistake it gave you something for your time, and more the more you put in.

If you do different activities every day, you'll get gear in reasonable timeframe. No one stops you from doing that. If you just Have to have gear X from event Y so you do it every day, then that's okay- but it's not necessary for progress.

Like I said, get a less hardcore LS if that's a problem. If you want to be the best at everything and get everything as fast as possible, the game allows you to do so- but the inevitable downside is that you'll most likely get burnt out.

Not every Linkshell is a blue gartr. Even though you're in "the scene", don't think that everyone is- and that if you're not, you can't progress.
