One of the most prominent pieces of art in downtown Raleigh is a very large confederacy memorial statue. It would be really nice if they removed it and stuck it in the history museum or something.

Hell, living in Richmond VA, we have Monument Ave., a street constantly named as one of the most beautiful streets in the country. On it are several monuments to Civil War generals (Stonewall Jackson, Lee, etc). Few years ago, there was a huge outrage when the city decided to put up a new statue... of Arthur Ashe. Was serious shit.

This is horseshit news anyway. Why is it when people protest Bush they're considered terrorists who don't know what the fuck, yet, when Obama does a few things right and people get all uppity, nobody says shit?

God damn, I'm quickly beginning to wonder why I came here from Europe in the first place. I believed in the call for freedom that the military kept bragging the U.S. stood for... then when I leave Europe for here, all I keep seeing is that freedom is just a fucking sub-Matrix the government uses to keep its citizens not-free.

On top of that, I help vote in a progressive President who's trying (albeit in vain, like most politicians that have to concede electoral promises) to make change and isn't getting anywhere, and people are fucking scared because some assholes are fear-mongering them which is only going to cause more violence.

Seriously, what the fuck does anyone have to gain from a revolution? I'm so sick of this shit. The country needs to be fixed, not risen up.

I'm becoming increasingly disgusted with how people in this country act; all I'm hoping for is for the guy I voted into office to get up and do something. I'm rather disappointed that these issues aren't being addressed the way they should be.
