apparently the guy could get off after a few weeks if he apologizes to the judge. I'd find it hard to do that, but in the end swallowing your pride is probably worth it. at least until you can get a high-powered lawyer and give this asshole what he deserves... and if that doesn't work, at least slash the tires on the judgemobile.
I'm curious as to how this really went down. I mean was it just a big yawn or was Clifton trying to be funny and it backfired on him? The judge does sound like a prick and 6 months is retarded but I bet there is more to the story than "Clifton yawns, gets 6 months." Then again, maybe not, maybe the judge is just an asshole.
there's probably more to it, but even if he was fucking around with the judge, six months seems pretty harsh from the way the incident was described. I've seen several different articles on the topic and not one mentions him even being given a warning.
Yea, for all we know he was doing one of those big fake obnoxious yawns on purpose, and the judge saw right through it. If he was being a funny guy, then the judge got the last laugh and rightfully so. If your going to be in a court room, you shut your phone off, you shut your mouth, and you sit till it's done. If you don't want to do those, don't come.![]()
doesnt matter whether or not the guy was being a smartass, if he wasnt actually doing physical harm its a really obvious abuse of powers. someone not taking you seriously as a person is not a requirement by law, and using the system just because you can to get back at someone that did is just a stuck up asshole
Reading the thread title made me yawn.
The article is correct in that the judge should be giving one verbal warning before throwing the book at someone, so he's still an asshole even if it was warranted.
Ya, capital punishment all the way!
Wait no. If someone is being disruptive, a night in jail will serve then good. 6 months is what you get for attempted rape, robbery, and assault..
Seriously, it doesnt matter how big of a dick you were in the court room, judges dont get to indiscriminately send people to jail for as long as they can (cant send him for longer than 6 months w/o being a felony I beleive). Judge needs to be removed from office immediately.
I was entertained more by the other stories on that site. Like the guy who paid child support for 13 years (though fell behind by a few thousand dollars), discovered he wasn't the father, petitioned to be relieved of child support obligations, and was told "Ok, you don't have to make new payments anymore, but you still have to catch up on all your back payments."
