Aion: Random Question Thread

Since installing aion my fps in ffxi has dropped from steady 29 in mog house + empty areas to 18-20, most people are probly going to same game guard 1st but I used to run psu (also uses GG) an ffxi at same time without the fps drop.

GG is still running in my task manager even tho aion isnt using it now(have not run psu either) cant end it not sure if trying to delete it from the aion files is a good plan, any suggestions?

Seriously though, I haven't seen any framrate issues going from Aion to FPS to HoN so i doubt its GG.

No directx or driver changes? Just having aion on the pc makes no reason why FFXI would run slower.

How to install other voice packs? I put the voice folder in my sounds, but character creation was still in english, unless it doesn't change that.

If you're installing the japanese voice pack it might have something to do with their game not being at 1.5, I don't know for sure though.

I'm using the korean one since japan won't get 1.5 until october.

JP pack worked in open beta which was 1.5, and char creation was still JP for me yesterday.

Also, most sites were saying the sound folder was in L10, but mine is just in the main aion folder.

Is there a benchmark program or anything I can run to make sure my computer can handle aion?

Also if I preorder tonight, would I be able to do any character creation or would I not be able to do anything until Tuesday?

I don't think there's a benchmark, but you can run the game to the login screen without an account I'm fairly sure. If you pre-ordered tonight, you could create your character as soon as you could get in game and play tomorrow at 3 PM EST.

If you go through that, download the game, and run it, you can at least get to the login screen which shows the graphics. If it doesn't run in chop mode on decent settings you're good to go. It really is a nice engine it was built on so it runs decently well on older hardware.

Can you make an elyos and a furry on different servers? I know you could in CB, but not in OB.

You could in OB >.> I made one on a random server to see Pandemonium after I dinged 26 on my main Elyos character.

What's a good site to check out which crafting skills benefit your class the most? I prefer not to go to aionsource, so I'm saving that as a last resort.

Is it just me or does downloading aion from the ncsoft launcher take an extremely large amount of time, plus it keeps getting errors through it, so I have to keep checking on it.

But really its not too hard of a choice:

Alchemy - Pots, Books, Orbs
Tailoring - Cloth and Leather Armor
Handicrafting - Jewelry, Bows, and Staves
Armorsmith - Plate and Chain gear, and Shields
Weaponsmithing - Daggers, Swords, Polarms, Greatswords

Basically just look at what your class will need and choose accordingly.
