Okay, I've seen this floating around a few times now, but can't really say I've "felt" it happening in play. Basically, people say that if you've moving forward while attacking, you'll do more damage, knockdown, or stun more. Meanwhile, going side-to-side ups your evasion while backward supposedly ups your block/parry. I'm having FFXI flashbacks here of watching newbies dance around mobs thinking similarly, but the only real advantage I can see moving around an opponent in PvP might have is them missing an auto attack now and then. Rest is just in their head, no?

No they are correct. I always run forward on my instant cast nukes for the extra damage, and it adds about 100 each. You can see it from the arrows under your char's feet that kerb mentioned, or if you are looking at your stats while moving you'll see + and - signs next to the stats that are being affected by your movement. It's relative to what direction you're facing, so if you are running away from a mob with your back to it you are still counted as moving forward.

Backpedaling is still pretty shitty because of how slow it makes you though, regardless of any buffs it gives.

Now and then, but just figured it was like the game guiding you to your target from a certain distance since not all of them would show.

Oh well, joy of no physical copy or instruction manual for little things like that.

Open up your stats/armor box (P) and watch your att/evasion/etc while you move different ways^^

Is there a way to open the memo pad without having to copy a location to it first?

Do the PUGs ever get better? Been doing TG on my cleric and SM and holy shit people are retarded. Even without BRs we still managed to wipe on 3 of the 4 runs I did, BEFORE the minibosses.

Are people marking, communicating, and otherwise not running with a poorly built group? There's only so much a leader can do before the rest just becomes people being stupid. But yeah, the potential horror of PUGs are why I do them as little as possible.

It's really sad because we are marking, have a good setup but holy fuck people are retarded and keep breaking the CC. That and most tanks don't have a clue how to tank even the simplest of things, it's insane.

I rarely had issues with PUG'ing TG.. and I've done it a lot... 6 characters leveled from 25-29 in there.

I think I only had like 2 bad TC groups, after leveling 4 characters there. Since many people level alts now I don't think there are so many bad players. Or I was just lucky

PUGs in TG, FT, Theo labs, and SR have been reliable and reasonably good for me

PUGs in dredg, DP, and KHQ have always been shitty for me

lets say my legion is doing forts & i just want to grind some exp w/o feeling guilty. If i check "invisible" in the social status menu, will i still show up on the guild list?

Which Xeno weapon is preferred for sin, dagger or sword? I'll have the 40 gold attack speed sword in the offhand if that makes any difference.

You will still show up on the legion list. As far as I know, this only prevents you from showing up on friend list and search.

Most sins I've seen pick up the sword. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen one with the dagger on my server. I assume this is because of the 22 attack on the sword which I would say is considerably better than the +39 crit the dagger offers.

Yea sword was my plan, but I've been seeing more sins with the dagger, and wondering why they chose it lol. And yea, crit cap is ridiculously easy to reach on sin, so sword all they way!

Anyone able to give me some tips for where to find lots of asmos to kill in Morheim on my 34 sin? ^^ I spent some time right outside of that Alsig Village place and it seemed pretty good, but wondering what my other options might be. And for that matter, anyone have any advice for building AP on lowbie characters? Is rifting and killing the best way?

They will be running out of the north side of Alsig to Fire Temple, or run some loops through Fall Road. You could be really devious and gank some pts while they're fighting some MM if your geared.

Alsig is pretty much the best source, sometimes the desert is ok if you need to switch it up when the 50s show up but you'd want to kill rank 7 and up for it to be worth the AP since they'll generally be level 28-30ish there.

You can even mess with parties gathering outside of fire temple. Just wait for a group to start entering, then jump one of the stragglers when there are about 2-3 left outside then pretend you're leaving the area and go into hide while out of chat range and reapproach. The rest of their group, or at least somebody, will most likely zone out and revive them. Wait for one to get revived and jump them for a free kill, then jump the rest of their party. It's pretty ruthless though but can be very effective and isn't too difficult to pull off.

If you're really good, you can take one of the above FT parties straight on or a mist mane party, but you'll most likely need to burn a 200 AP potion to survive, so you'll want to make sure the ranks are high enough to be worth the risk.
