I'm really curious to see how the electorate feels in 2012. I'm wondering if people will still be following "hope, change, etc" blindly or will actually start holding the democratic executive responsible for his misleadings and general disappointment

some form of healthcare will get passed and it will improve the current situation to some degree, the economy will probably be out of recession, and Iraq should have winded down. he's still gonna be able to cash in on the rhetoric.

Yeah, lets start criticizing future Obama for his lack of fulfillment of past Obama's promises. Beam me up, Scotty.

I'm kind of surprised to hear this, the last time I checked up on this a few weeks ago didn't he have a senate supermajority + ~80% approval rating for the health care change? I didn't think he'd have any trouble at all getting it pushed through. I saw the protests on DailyShow but I never would have figured they would be successful in any way.

Is the health care system described in Michael Moore's Sicko accurate? I'm an Australian/Canadian so I've grown up with gvmt run health care, so I can't really compare from first hand experience. But if it is accurate... wow.

Why is it that no one gets on the Republicans' asses when they are clearly the ones cockblocking policy? Do people realize that the president cannot pass legislature by himself and chances are it's these damn senators who are getting lobbied that are actually fucking the people over? The president may have all the good intentions in the world and it'll amount to shit with congressmen sabotaging things. Why don't they get accountability? It's always the presisdent's fault no matter which president.

Like Kuya said, government doesn't work. Greed seems to be super effective though.

Most Americans can not name the three branches of government or find America on a map and you are hoping they are going to realize this? The quote about getting the government you deserve is so true in the case of the US.

Also regarding brownshirts: “First Obama’s brownshirts came for the old people, but I was not an old person, so I said nothing. Then they came for Glenn Beck, but I was not Glenn Beck, so I did nothing. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.”

Locking a thread for a topic that's covered in three other threads? Yeah, really fucking oppressive.

It's not my fault you assholes are too lazy, or too desperate for attention, tht you have to keep making new threads because the original doesn't have a title insulting enough for your liking.

Agreed. I'd personally like to see a complete overhaul of our government to a parliamentary republic system.

the premise of this thread is skewed, it presumes that all presidents, or even recent presidents were corrupt

what proof do you have besides rabid conspiracy theorists?
