Maybe it will be like FFIV in that there was a civilzation with a high-tech floating city. Albeit in FFIV it was an ancient now exctinct civilzation and the flying fortress was all but abandoned.

I did notice that, when the airships swing around, the camera pans and it looks like there is a giant floating mechanical city (or monstrous airship, can't really tell what it is).
Looks cool to me... I don't mind technology at all in FF, places like Esthar in FF8 and the gardens I think are some of the coolest in the series (FF7 had a lot of technology, too).

It sort of reminds me of the aurora borealis type phenomenon that occured in Quifim when the Light Elemental was present. But in addition to the pretty sky... there's huge beams of light.

lol that's probably what it'll end up being. A random weather effect that occurs every once in a while and doesn't really do anything.
