Ok beta over.

Start by chosing Enforcer or Criminal, and then start making your character.
The character creation is very detailed and very very impressive, and you can edit and morph an awful lot.

We started in the social district with everyone else on the server for the first hour, where you could buy any items of clothing you wanted, they were all free, and gear up your badass character. Lots of stuff you can change the colours of; for example a buletproof vest had: plates, base, straps, clips and edge that you could recolour any way you want. Pick from a selection, use RGB numbers, or move a pointer around the colour pallete.

Anyway, you jump into the game, there's the social district, which is purely that, there's the financial district which was the one they opened to play on, and there was another that was locked. In those districts, there are mutliple instances of the same city you can join.

The graphics are pretty nice, im thinking like GTA4 style detail, but my framerate was pretty lame, running on a 2.3 quadcore, 4GB RAM and 512 Geforce 9600GS. I also blackscreen'd 4 times, where obviously i would get blackscreen'd and my monitor would auto-powersave, meaning i had to restart. Alot of people were saying they were getting virtual memory errors and leaks, so that might've been the cause. RTW representatives were ingame answering questions on the district channel (/d) and they were saying all crashes are recorded so they'll take a look etc.

to fix the problem, i had to scale the resolution down a fair bit, because there are no graphical options at the moment, so its change resolution or stick with it.

Did a few missions; you speak to a representitive of the corresponding faction and they give you them. They were mostly "drug raid needed on a house here". You go there, press F and you'll get out a battering ram and start smacking the door down. You get a yellow circle recepticle that starts winding around and once its back to the top, bam. The next part of the mission was "pick up what you found and take it here", so F to pick up, get into a car (which is pretty unresponsive at the moment) and drive to the location and drop it off. Followed by "ok we found that there may be more here go here", etc.

Upon completing a mission, you get mail where you get your reward. This is also the place where you can equip/unequip weapons, refill ammo and also usually near a vehicle spawn point to spawn a vehicle.

So from the first play, I'm not really convinced yet, but there's a long way to go so I'll keep playing each play day. Next one is tuesday, and I'll remember to take more screenshots, honest.

Here's the only SS I took that was ok, im on the left (this is before I actually did much and made my character look boss) and that Circuitbomb guy was someone who was like, teaching our group what to do lol.

TL;DR - too early to make a decision, but lack of graphical control settings is hindering my judgement.

The email subject says: "APB: You've been selected as a Beta Tester!", the email goes along to say some stuff about a product key and where to download the client at.

Never know, hell i applied for it so long ago and forgot about it, maybe you'll still get one.

That thing is so freaking awesome, they should polish it more after the game is done and sell it as middleware or something.

I'm in the Heavy Hitters beta program tonight, the longer one. I presume that was a little gesture as I was in the earlier beta. kinda excited to see if they fixed alot of the stuff, but we'll soon see.

I'm in the beta, and it was meh. If you've played GTA 4 you've played this. Gameplay feels wierd, and the driving is just horrible.
