Lores just fluff now its not really part of the gaming experiance.
Why would you even what to kill them if not for the lore behind them? I'm fine with them becoming bosses or whatever, it is a game after all, but for the love of god just stick with the great story already put in the game. He doesn't need to steamroll over everything in order for it to make sense, he just needs to try a little.
Why is the old God's power rising with two of them being defeated by a rag-tag group of adventurers?
Edit: Oh wait I got it, "This was just a setback! Muhahahaha"
I don't really understand why people find Kael'thas to be such a cliche here. Yeah it was a recycle, and probably lame way to just inject a new dungeon (the dungeon as a whole is really fucking annoying tbh, priestess fight can DIAF), but his commentary makes sense at least; you kill him in TK, ok. Kil'jaeden or somebody comes along and shoves a fel crystal in his chest to revive him. Kael was already an arrogant sonofabitch, so of course he's like "lolurface" and thinks he can beat you despite already losing once.
I don't really see that being an issue.
Not to mention the whole matter already brought up by Correction and others of "Hey we killed yogg last week, what's he doing alive"...it's a game, at some point the realism continuity barrier has got to go.
It doesn't say that the defeated ones power is rising... It stated that there are
many old gods and that they are having an influence and used the defeated ones as an example.
I don't want to kill them for the lore, I like that they have lore establised and there are baddies from past events to fight so they don't need to make up new people from scratch. I know deathwing was a badass and rather fight him then some random new guy they made up. Would you rather fight bosses like kt sarg kj illidan or would you rather the first beastmen boss from toc? The lore is there to have these npc's exist it doesn't matter if they change some things about their story all that matters is I get to fight this supposed god of death or corruption or whatnot.
Typing this from my iPhone while at an abortion clinic, I deserve A medal... And some
purples.
I'm cool with that and totally understand it. but I think you would agree with me that if suddenly it was revealed that Onyixa has been hiding in secret and thanks to the power of the old gods has become the right hand woman of Arthas you would be a bit "Wtf, bitch is dead" too. Generally I go with the timeline being that nothing is dead till you move onto the next expansion, then all those old bosses are maggot food. I would not expect (nor want) to see Illidan or Netharian again, they are long dead and the game has moved on.
And with regards to what Boyiee said, I totally agree that I want to fight these awesome characters that are already well known and established as bosses. But because they are already well known and established, they should not completely rework their history in order to make it into the challenge they are looking for.
If they are just going to ignore the history and lore of enemies, why not just make it random boss number 12 from ToC? It's pretty much the same thing just with a more familiar model.
Yes but at the same time reworking something from the past to make it into the game now, well it would require that some things get beefed up. They are infatuated with using "old gods" as influences and we sure as hell are going to see more than just WOTLK and deathwing as examples of old gods manipulating and increasing the powerlevel of old lore based characters. It's already pretty obvious they are going to bring in old gods more and more and bring in titans in more and more as bosses, deathwing just happened to be something on their list that they could have done it to.
Not to mention, looking at past dragon models, with only malygos in this expac with "updated graphics" and cataclysm having even more updated, it's going to be really nice to see another dragon. People fucking love dragons, there has to be one somewhere, and I'm pretty happy that it is one as badass as deathwing. Now only if they stick to their scale models of his sheer size <3
Models/boss rooms really can't get too big or else your healers will cry on 10-mans. At most they could finesse the size/distance issue by removing range restrictions for certain encounter phases. Or they could force raids to fight in separate areas simultaneously (think Gothik, C'Thun or Malygos) to increase the sense of scale without actually making silly huge monster models.
deathwing = 4 horsemen, 1 foot being each
same distance between them
GO
Oh, I know
how about making deathwing a "multi-instanced instance"
where your raid splits in different sections and each raid fights a different part.
one raid will be attacking the feet/ass
another will fight the back
another the face
each section will consist of x amount of phases and finishing one instance will net rewards even if the others wipe. but if you beat all 3 within x amount of time of beating another you'll get uber epics
right?! right?!?!
facefuckingpalm
you people still dont shut up
but go ahead, keep bitching in this thread about your lore being ripped asunder by the cataclysm (LOL) and keep blaming blizzard for 'ruining' the game. im sure WoW will have no more people playing it as the lore disintegrates into nothingness, every expansion less and less people have started playing, right?
nobody's saying the story doesn't matter, what doesn't matter is silly shit like some fan's personal opinion on how certain people or races would react to blah blah without even knowing the details of what causes the changes
and we don't need you guys to tell us 500 times how much it does matter, 'etc'.
make some constructive points about the expansion, or maybe make mention of an idea you have that would seem cool in cataclysm instead of bitching then maybe 90% of the people who are involved in this thread won't say you guys are crying. because you guys sure are QQing a whole lot.
Arvin your not really good at this apathy thing are you ?
im a very passionate person when it comes to certain stuff
Yeah you show em how much you give a fuck about not giving a fuck!
go eat galkas
yea i sure said i dont give a fuck at some point
that was me
The details to what is causing the change are the problem. They make no sense, Metzen just came up with some random crap to fill it in and said "Yeah sure, that fits and works...we'll just retcon this all".
Retconning isnt in itself a bad concept, but using it over and over and coupling it with the use of dues ex machina in ALL of your writing is.
