Access old HDs~?

Before I spend $50 I want to make sure Im buying the right thing (Im fairly certain I am). My main HD finally froze up in my old pc (long time in comming - go go blue screens o death). My old HDs are all IDE and my new PC is of course SATA ~ I want to be able to 'quick swap' my old HDs in and out to transfer data and maybe leave one or 2 hooked up as I havent bought much extra space for my new PC yet...Anyways ~

Would these work/Are they what I need? I'm a little confused on the different information past IDE or SATA and USB power or AC Adapter <.<; ~ Im fairly certain the 3.5' is correct but again not 100 % D: /cry at not being up to snuff on pc information anymore (The reviews and specs seem right..)~

Idk the answer to your question, but you could always do what I did and buy one of those 5-7 dollar bend/break enclosures. Don't last long at all but if it works u got ur use from it and if not ur only out 7 bucks.

Edit: I have this exact one

Never even used the casing I just leave the old HDD out the way it is and plug in the adapter so I can use the USB. Have had it for almost a year now and still works.

Called it bend/break btw cause the casing (Which I don't use) I could crush w/ one finger if i tried.

Something like this is easier for several disconnects and reconnects:

    Newegg.com - VANTEC CB-ISATAU2 SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter - Adapters & Gender Changers

I always use a SATA/IDE to USB adapter to access old drives. If you're looking for a long-term solution for storage, then yes, what you picked out should work fine.

I just havae to say if you didn't bought it yet.

the first one, you posted i do not recommand it.

We have like 5-6 of em at the office here, and the all broke after 2-3months. (the power connector is loose and everything, so you have to keep pressing it to work and all.

Not saying that you shouldn't buy it, just informing lol (maybe we just got unlocky and got 5 bad )

Fubar ~ so HD froze up again last night with some kinda kernel error askin me to check disk space -- I noticed before it died that I could transfer information to the drive (copy/paste) but not from the drive -- Altho I could start up my FTP and upload and download information from the drive....So Im assuming its only half broken? Or something else possibly wrong?

Also noticed a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark showing up on my task bar any time I got an error about the copy/pasting
