Equally amazing run yesterday - Paula Radcliffe at the NY Half - 36, 10 months off after foot surgery, decides to enter 3 days before and wins and beats her own record.

I read this article, and I was like, wut?

David Lam wrote this blog post on the race, "I've watched Radcliffe on TV many times before, but I've never seen her compete in person (she won three of the five marathons I completed in NYC and London). Boy is she fast," and has photographs of her "zipping through Times Square." He added, "In fact, she was so fast, she beat the R train I took from Times Square to the finish at Battery Park in Lower Manhattan. I arrived about 10 minutes after Radcliffe won the race (she averaged 4:34 per mile today)...That really puts her (and the other top finishers') incredible speed in perspective." What's sad is at some point he's going to slow down, and there's really no telling if his desire to "move the record a tiny bit at a time" is going to prevent him from ever actually running the fastest time he's capable of before he slows down.
