Made me laugh, how he was saying that the only injury he got was on his feet and shins from walking through prickly plants barefoot when he got out of the car...

Reminds me of a friend that rolled his shit end over end then still going forward rammed a tree and slid partway up it... whole roof was collapsed directly over the driver's seat...

And walked away with a bit of whiplash.

Track and field's a funny sport.

Gender test requested for 18-year-old runner - ESPN

South Africa's Caster Semenya caught the IAAF's attention by greatly improving her personal bests in the 800 and 1,500.
The 18-year-old Caster Semenya is a favorite in Wednesday's 800 final at the world championships.

The IAAF requested the gender test about three weeks ago after Semenya burst onto the scene by improving her personal bests in the 800 and 1,500 by huge margins.

IAAF spokesman Nick Davies says the "extremely complex, difficult" test has been started but the results were not expected for several weeks.

Davies said "the situation today is that we don't have any conclusive evidence that she should not be allowed to run."

    Two questions.

    1) How does a gender test take weeks to run? Even if it's not externally obvious, aren't there simple blood tests or x-rays to detect internal organs that could done in a much shorter period of time?
    2) If you put a comma between the n and the y in her last name, does it become the most appropriate name in the history of sport?

    Well, he did it again.

19.19 on 200m, DAYUM! Also, lol @ Spearmon (3rd place), who was quoted saying he was going to tear Bolt's head off or something.

My brother is a track athlete as well. I believe he does 40.23 or something like that (Top in his state, second top team in the nation). on the 400m. I dont really know much about what team he's on but I know he's getting a full ride through college at Oklahoma University.

It doesnt even look like anyone is trying to win that race. Bolt is so much faster than them he makes it look like they arent trying to beat him. He could have ran the last 50m backwards and still won.

Is it weird to anyone else that the WR in the 200 is more than double the time of the WR in the 100?

I know it only takes a tiny bit of time to get up to speed, but I wouldn't think they'd slow down over such a short distance...

Maintaining that speed for any amount of time has to be so tiring, it honestly shocks me that the 200m time isn't longer.

If they could keep up that pace for 160 seconds, they'd run a 2:40 mile - over a minute faster than the current WR.

I'd love to see the splits on Bolt trying to sprint at top speed for that long.

Also, does Bolt run the 400?

It blows my mind that the top-10 400m racers of all time are all American. So strange.

He doesn't. He said after Beijing that he doesn't like to run that much distance for a race, or something along those lines. He'd be dominate in it though, he's built for it.

Not really, I've wondered why the time is so different as well since for me personally my 200m time is less then if my 100s were stacked. After the 200 though I can't think of anybody that would still be able to maintain that speed all the way to the 400.

The lactic acid from sprinting for that long would just flat out melt the muscles lol.

Exactly, the 200 is well enough I really don't recall being tired after a 200 but after every 400 my legs burn like fuck and I ALWAYS throw up after.
