Sorry you feel three short paragraphs is an essay of sadness. Not sure if you bothered reading my dissertation of a post (lol), but it was that long (lol) and you still couldn't pick out that I was agreeing with you about 3D being used properly not being a problem. Still makes it a gimmick to go see a movie, though. Do you not know what a gimmick is? Mocumentary films such as Quarantine, Cloverfield, the first part of District 9 all had the mocumentary gimmick. Does gimmick automatically mean something negative to you lol? I'd ask how hard that is to understand, but it's pretty obvious that it's hard enough for you to understand to warrant three quick one-liner comments about how stupid you think I am about the subject.

I saw the movie last night. I thought it was absolutely amazing. The effects were amazing. Somehow they made eleven foot tall blue cat aliens look absolutely real. I was awestruck with how great the forest looked and how well the 3d was implemented. The movie was entirely cgi, but it looked real. There may have been only a handful of places where it didn't look like it was shot on location. The 3d wasn't gimmicky at all. After about 10 minutes like others said, I forgot I was watching a movie. The 3d wasn't "let me poke you in the eye with a stick" but rather gave it all depth of field.

My girlfriend got a terrible headache watching it. I'm going to take her to see it again, except this time i'll give her some asprin before we watch it.

Ever since watching it all I have wanted to do was watch it again, which is quite rare for me in movies now adays.

(yes the story was predictable, but that didn't make it not good for me at least. My girlfriend cried on a few occasions)

I've watched movies in both 3D and normal and while the 3D is nifty for the first 20-30 minutes after that I stop even realizing that it's in 3D. Then on the second viewing(generally at home) the only thing I miss from the first viewing is the better sound and big screen.

Also as someone who has different vision in each eye 3D is really hard to focus right and can cause a headache.

In the end I prefer to save money and avoid 3D movies.
