Where did I say 12? I was refering to college years, which is when most people start partying, and last until you start taking life more seriously a few years later. The correlation between black sig and skin color was already made in another thread (not by me). I avoided it here since it was beyond the point, but yeah, one more thing someone could have said from your sig.
Everyone can sit [sleep] 3-4h in a class. The point of my question was to ask if you take school seriously. If you are able to pay attention in a classes for 3 hours, and enjoy it, there is a good chance you could watch a 2h40 movie without any action.
Same thing for book. Many people have attention's span way too short, and lack the imagination needed to enjoy a story without visual. I'm pretty sure that big reader are more likely to enjoy a movie like this than someone who only watched action movies, because they don't want the same thing from a movie.
I didn't watch any advertisement. Actually, I'm not even sure if I was able to download the trailer (quicktime suck). Most of the info I had came from south park with the "dance with the smurf" movie. If you were tricked by publicity, then I'm sorry, but you should know better. If I wanted a cheap adrenaline rush I would have went to see sherlock holmes, or gone on a roller coaster or what have you. The reason I wanted a typical action movie is because A) typical action movies have very shallow plots with lots of shiny visual effects, and B) The only thing that the advertisements played off of were "ZOMG EXPLOSIONS AND BLUE PEOPLE" and don't try to tell me wrong. So yes, it was a typical action movie, however in place of a lot of action, it had shiny visual effects in that of a forest with crazy plants and animals. And by crazy, I mean unimaginative. A 6 legged horse with 2 front legs? A Pterodactyl with 4 wings? The plot was so simple an 8 year old could dissect it in 10 minutes. I, personally, like movies with a lot of depth/plot turns or some form of suspense. Big Fish is one of my favorite movies along with the departed and Inside Man, but I guess those are just action flicks
Do you sincerely think it's the lack of imagination that caused the fauna to look similar to the one on the Earth? I'm sure there is technological limitation (much harder to realistically animate something completely different), but it's obvious they wanted it to look likethe Earth to some extent. Something completely different might end up looking ridiculous, and take the viewer's attention to a place where they didn't want it to go.
The departed was a great movie, but the demographic it's targeting is completely different. I didn't watch the other 2 movie.
Hmm where to start, do I need to outline my education career? To keep it short I went to a vocational highschool for marine biology and college prep, so yes I do take school seriously, and yes I'm capable of staying up through class, hell college is easier than high school was (so far).
Obviously they wanted it to look like earth, ya know with a recolored Jupiter in the background, complete with the red eye, but 2 extra feet on a horse? I mean I probably wouldn't be harping on this point so much if they had 4 legs. And I'd hate to get all realistic up in this bitch, but 4 legs are far superior to locomotion than 6.I didn't watch any advertisement. Are you telling me that in order to enjoy Avatar, you have to be mature, but in order to understand the complexities of The Departed, you don't have to be? Watch the trailer for Big Fish not many people liked it, but i loved it. Inside Man is a movie with Clive Owen and Denzel Washington that is about a group of robbers that rob a bank with such precision that they pretty much commit no crime in the process.
And that's why the movie went above your head.
I assume the nature of the "Rabbit's Foot" was important in mission impossible 3? Right. It's the same shit here. Yes, if you want to look at the setting, the unobtainium is very important obviously. However, the story was about the character evolving in the setting, not about unobtainium. Setting =/= story.
I can pull up name that sound even more retarded in science. Complaining about naming in movie is nitpicking. You have every right to be annoyed by it, but not being able to see how shallow your opinion is is ridiculous.
It's a point when you say it, but when I say otherwise, it's me ignoring the point? Way to go.
I did not enjoy this movie the same way I enjoyed spiderman 3 or transformer 2 (actually, hated these). None of my friends did, and most people I talked to hated these movie, but enjoyed Avatar.
Like I said to Silentleroy, I don't give a shit if you didn't like it, but if you think that a majority of the people think this movie is on par with transformer 2, you're crazy. I'm sure it is for you, but it definitively cannot be generalized to the whole population.
And complaining about story originality is ridiculous...go read more or something, you would notice quickly that everything was done many times.
Actually you never even said anything about "giving a shit if I don't like it," you were arguing that it wasn't for my demographic, stick to the topic. Have fun being duped, because this is Pocahontas gift wrapped with blue people and advanced armies. Hell Monster's Inc is more enjoyable, has a more complex story, and more of an original movie.
Leroy have you not learned arguing with idiots is counter productive, obviously since your a football fan you cannot enjoy cinematic discoveries. If you read the gaming section prior to you getting your PS3 a week ago you'd know what im talking about.
Im a huge football fan and enjoyed the movie, guess I didnt know what I was watching!
I agree. In fact I had an argument in another thread about evolution on other earth-like planet being similar to one we have here. 4 legs is definitively superior to 6. If you want to discuss about science inaccuracies, I could write you a 50 pages long essay.
That said, the movie isnt trying to be completely realistic. It play between realism and fantasy, and try to offer something belieavable in overall, while keeping a touch of surrealism. That line between both is probably the reason why animal are similar, and why many thing are the way they are in the movie.
Nope, that's not what I said. Intelligence doesn't change that much when you age, it's your sensibility to certain thing that will change. I didn't give shit about love story 5 years ago, now I do. Most people go through something like this to a different extent. Are you telling me that in order to enjoy Avatar, you have to be mature, but in order to understand the complexities of The Departed, you don't have to be? The Departed is much harder to follow than avatar, there is no argument, but the genre (and their purpose) are completely different. I would rather compare avatar to spider man3 and transformer than the departed, even if I don't think it's a fair comparison.
And yes, I do think The Departed is addressed to desensitized young adult more than a movie like avatar. Why? the languages used, the joke, the unpredictable sudden twist, the setting...
I mentioned this to distance myself from the "fanboy" opinion, it's not like I didn't address the other point.
If you want to insist that *insert movie* has a more complex plot, feel free to do so, I don't care. At this point, I doubt you are able to have an objective view on a story. You see cliché only where you want, you bundle different style together, and you don't take into consideration the targeted audiance. Not to mention you can't put your expectation aside when you watch a movie.
Except my guess was right. And no, I never said football alone was an argument, but eh, look like football gather more idiots than I thought.
[edit]
Beside, you don't have football players partying in your sig. You most likely don't share the same profile as him.
And it's too late to change sig at this point to prove a point, before someone do it.
Lulz. That is my only thought right now. And you're going to take that as "I win, I'm right you're wrong you have no other opinion" but in actuality, I'm just bored with this argument.
You seem to be confusing being bored in general, and being bored with a specific thing. Glad you say everything out loud when you read posts.
I was talking about the part were you said you wanted to rip my argument apart, but are too bored to do it. It sound like conflicting emotion to me.
So, no I didn't confuse both.
[edit]
I'm glad you always think you have the edge, yet, miss the point systematically. It's a lot more fun this way.
What would a psychologist say about a person who has used the same avatar for several years?
Just curious.
I hate this movie so much because I'm cool and a nonconformist.
I'm so noncomformist in this thread that I actually liked the movie.

I'm sorry for you man, this movie went above your head.
