You know who the targeted audience for a 400 million dollar film with both action sequences and a love story is?
EVERY FUCKING HUMAN BEING ON THE PLANET.
Get the fuck out of here with your "targeted audience" horseshit. You don't make niche films with that kind of budget, unless you're Squaresoft.
Do you realize some people in this thread are complaining about the length created by character development and love story in the middle of the movie? The mix of action and love story won't necessarily target everyone. It's true there is enough goodies for every fucking human on the planet like you said, but the simple fact it's made for everyone mean it won't catter a particular type of person who only want a specific type of movie.
The desentized young male rarely want to watch anything involving a love story, all he want is the mindless pewpew and kaboom. The pacing of this movie is not made for him. He will be able to appreciate certain aspect of it, but it won't be a "great movie" for him.
Disagree all you want, I don't give a shit, not everyone will apreciate this movie as much, and "targeted audience" has something to do with it.
I doubt James Cameron gave a damn about catering to a "targeted audience." It's obvious he tried to whore out this movie to as many people as possible to ensure some profit was made from a movie with such a huge budget. If you can't agree to this then I have nothing else to say. Ignorance must be bliss.
You make it sound as if this movie was some kind of masterpiece made for only the purest of movie aficionados to completely appreciate.
Point me where I said anything like this. If it's the impression you get from my post, you couldn't be farther from the truth.
Nearly everyone can appreciate the movie for what it is. The only people who won't imo are the one who needs 3h of badass action to get entertained, or the one who requires 3h of complex plot twist. Basically, people with very specific taste.
Someone who is open to every genre of story will most likely appreciate the movie more than someone who is fucking close minded and ask for explosion and tits to be entertained.
Wait wait wait. Is someone really saying that a repainted Pocahontas movie has such depth that it has the ability to go over people's heads? I know you love to argue but have some standards for fuck's sake. Please, I'm dying to know what is so god damned innovative about the story of this movie to garner it any real original merit.
No, I'm saying that asking for complexity in a movie that is made to be simple is missing the point.
That's like someone who watch cinderella and ask for more violence. Missing the purpose doesn't mean you didn't understood the story.
[edit]
And like I said before, people asking for "something new" havent read enough books or watched enough movies. You would realize pretty damn fast that creating "original" content is nearly impossible at this point, especially not in 3 hours. The only thing that matter is how the well the story is executed, or how well the character convey emotions. That's what make a good solid book/story.
If you're looking for original material, expect to be let down more and more often as you watch stuff.
The fact you seem to place Avatar on a pedestal above other movies of a similar nature when they're literally no different. Again, everyone loved the imagery sans one or two but let's not fool ourselves the movie was anything more than that. No such thing as a perfect movie, god forbid anyone points out obvious flaws.
At this point you just seem to argue for the sake of arguing.
If Avatar is on par with Transformer, is transformer on par with pocahontas and Dance with the wolf? What the fuck did you even mean by movie of similar nature.
The fact that you compare Avatar's story to movie that makes "pot muffin" jokes and have so many plot hole and nonsensical thing is laughable. It's not avatar that I'm placing on a pedestral here, it's spiderman 3 and Transformer that I'm bashing. Avatar script/plot won't go down in history, but it's not horrible like the movie you mentioned. No one is going to tell you they were entertained by transformer story, but it's not true for Avatar.
Point obvious flaws? All I see is trolling like:
"I was completely bored by this movie. Too much q.q not enough pewpew."
"I spent half the movie wondering if James Cameron was gonna show some blue CGI boob."
and people complaining about the unoriginal story when it's fucking retarded to talk about originality in story. The "obvious flaws" you speak off are mostly related to your taste, which make a pretty poor method to detect "flaws".
Can someone please explain to me why all of you are arguing with a brick wall?
I already explained my case.
To said brick wall. You're going to end up being retarded into submissionI already explained my case.![]()
Pat I would like to buy some S's.
And the snare draws to a close. Prepare to be assailed by massive retardation. I warned all of you. Now reap the whirlwind gentlemen!
