It's almost 3 hours long that alone will make me not go and see it.

I saw it last night with a packed theater and I'm glad I did. The reaction of the entire audience made it known what I was seeing was the same thing they did. The environment you are immersed in is breathtaking. What you see in trailers, youtube, clips etc doesn't do it justice.

I enjoyed the story and I loved the visuals. I'd gladly see it several times more (minus my budget, so like 2 more times) and can say I'd still enjoy it each time.

I'd suggest that if you want to see it, 3D IMAX. If you're hesitant because of what people say about the plot, then see it in 3D IMAX and make the choice for yourself - it's a $15 ticket, not a $60 game.

I just got in from this movie (snow isn't gonna ruin my non-refundable 18 dollar IMAX ticket!) And I was blown away.

First off, I loved the 3D. It didn't use any of those cheap over used 3D effects of shit flying at you from the screen. It was all about immersion, and they nailed it. Certain parts of the movie, I felt like I was in the room with them. Secondly, story. No matter how "cliche" the story was or how predictable people said it was, I still found myself immensely enjoying it. I predicted most stuff, but I was entertained from beginning to end. Not many movies can do that for me. Also, the Na'vi animations along with all the environments were probably among the best CG I've ever seen. Usually companies fuck up characters with the "dead eyes" (see Beowulf, Polar Express etc) where characters don't look too emotional. I thought it was amazing how well the characters conveyed emotion. Maybe it was because of the "big" eyes. I dunno, A+++ overall. Very pleased, would see again.

The world is so rich with lore, wildlife and everything else you just get lost in it. 2 hrs 40 minutes passed in absolutely no time at all.

I didn't mind the ending at all, I don't know what the hell people's problem with it is.

Would you rather it have gone the "cliche" route and the main hero dies to save who he loves? Then the ending has more meaning? Who says that the main character has to die. I for one enjoyed the happy-ish sort of ending. Humans being banished except for a select few, and our main 2 characters live happily ever after. It's nice having that once in a while. Besides, there was enough tragedy in the movie where there didn't have to be a sacrifice. Anyway, /rant off.

this was the cliche ending, aka hero rides off into the sunset after saving the day. the closest this movie had to a meaningful life/death sort of thing was with Weaver's character; it was nice (if simple) way to show how militarism and greed squash the pursuit of understanding.

Just got back from it and I loved it! I don't care if the story was "cliche" or normal as I would say it. It is always hard undertaking a scifi/fantasy film of that scale, and it was more than enjoyable enough to let that part be ok.

I don't understand the idea behind saying 3-D is "the future" of the movie industry. Who are the people demanding this and what is the point? Maybe we could feel like were really having our space violated by Kathy Bates' ass in the hot tub scene in About Schmidt.

I think the hype has to do with the TVs that are coming out that can show 3D. There is a lot of recent technology that has been changed too in the way they make 3-D films.

As I stated in another thread too, my fiance is currently is converting an upcoming movie into 3D at his company so I hope it ends up being a good fad for a long ass time since it pays really well >: )

Going on a date, to go see this tonight. I enjoy cliche sci fi movies so I think I'll like this. Are they good movies? Nope. Can they be cheesy, predictable and shallow? Yup... But the bottom line for these types of movies is they can still be entertaining, which can be different from good. Entertaining and Good do not have to be in the same boat for me. I think we are going to like this.

I loved it. I enjoyed every minute of the film, it was predictable, but I still like the story. Visually it was incredible. Definitely getting it on Blu Ray when it comes out.

The movie was amazing. A must see in 3D IMAX IMO. Yes you knew what was going to happen before it did sometimes, but its not always about the crazy cool story with plot twists every 10 mins. Just sit back and watch the damn movie and enjoy it.

Went to see this in IMAX 3D today but it was sold out and I was very sad. Couldn't go to the next showing either because of incoming snowstorm.

It was ok. If you're going to see it, see it at the theatre. Definately not something I'd rent.

Just got back from seeing it in 3D and that was beautiful to see. I expected it to be shit but I was amazed. The story was kind of predictable but how it was executed was great.

The people in the theater also applauded at the end of the movie.
