Earthworm Jim Coming To Wii, PS3, and 360 - Earthworm Jim - Kotaku

Seems like your vote for the 20th anniversary Sega Genesis title to hit Xbox Live might not matter much, as Gameloft and Interplay announce Earthworm Jim for WiiWare, Xbox Live Arcade, and the PlayStation Network.

Interplay has granted Gameloft exclusive rights to develop, distribute, and publish Earthworm Jim as a downloadable title across the current crop of titles, as well as mobile devices, meaning an iPhone Earthworm Jim might not be out of the question. Gameloft is understandably delighted.

"We are delighted to partner with Interplay to bring Earthworm Jim to multiple downloadable platforms," said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president, Gameloft. "The game, with its humorous and edgy style, is a great fit for today's gamer who craves a fully immersive experience that is fun and easily accessible. We look forward to delivering a fantastic game."

It should be easy enough, seeing as the fantastic game already exists! And it shall exist again, sometime during the final quarter of 2009, with the Xbox 360 getting one-month worth of timed exclusivity.

It doesn't sound like it, but it could be from the limited storage byte on the original cartridge that it was compressed kind of funny.

Either way, excited when I saw the thread title, definitely will be getting this, I love the game when I was growing up.

Anyone played this yet on 360 and able to give some insight? It comes out on PSN today finally after you guys had it for a whole month. It seems like a lot of reviewers are hitting it hard, but it's for reasons based on the fact this is just a visual upgrade (aside from co-op and a couple new levels) that retains some of the frustrating levels without any adjustments made of the sort.

There's easy mode, but from all I've seen it just adds 15 more seconds to the Down the Tubes stage and maybe shaves 1-2 hits off the boss' HP bars. Overall it's still just as frustrating as the original, especially in For Pete's Sake and Buttville. The three levels they added are pretty easy compared to the normal game, and the multiplayer isn't much fun, but the controls are tight and responsive, and the game is still as hilarious as it used to be. Overall, if you liked the original, I recommend the HD remake.

Downloaded the demo and gave it a whirl. Definitely is Jim as I remember it alright. At any rate, I withdraw my prior statement and will probably wait for a sale since Capcom side-swiped me with Final Fight for $5 this week on PSN, which I grabbed without hesitation. (really impressed by how Capcom's GGPO implementation works for online play in that game)

Only thing I have to say about my experience with the Jim demo is that the extra clarity from the game being remastered for 720p makes the animations less fluid looking even though it has the same frame-count as the source. Granted, the original game had a shit resolution which helped mask some visual hiccups, and made everything appear more fluid since the pixels were huge compared to today's standards, where HD Jim is squeaky clean all over.

Areas looked fantastic at least which is a plus, I just wish they muffled the crow squacks out, jesus.....

I loved Earthworm Jim back during the Genesis days. Oh, the memories. Definitely getting this!
