My question:
Is anyone in USA capable of loading the NA, or EU FFXIV official web sites?
I got a confirmation from someone in Germany that they can get the EU site to load but I cannot get either one for at least 30 minutes now.

Getting [The page cannot be found] for EU and [Error the requested url could not be retrieved] for NA.

None of the 4 people I still talk to in-game has SMN, and my only 75 on my current character is Monk. That being said, thanks for the last suggestion; that'd be even easier to set up.

MNK+RDM or WHM could probably do it too. A BRD would be nice to have as well.

Sorta a tech question but it's common enough that there should be a simple explanation. Had to get a new Geforce8600 due to my old one dying, have had a bit of trouble getting my FFXI to look like I want it to again, the ground kind of shimmers and looks a bit grainy but otherwise the game looks fine. I can't remember my old settings but currently I have nvidia control panel set to 16x anisotropic and 8xQ antialiasing, overriding ffxi's application setting (it can go up to 16x/16xQ).

I've tinkered with settings but I can't figure out why it looks so different and shimmery to me and it's driving me nuts. If anyone is familiar with nvidia's application settings or has an idea of how to fix what I'm bitching about please let me know :3

If you turn those settings off in the nvidia control panel, does it stop doing it?

Anyway I can avoid getting stuck at 99TP on BST? Using Rajas/Ecphoria and Wrath Tabar/Darksteel Axe +1. Level 64 right now, things like White Tathlum would be out of my budget/priorities for now.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "stuck". Is this in a solo situation, or you're doing regular exp parties?

If I remember correctly, your gfx card settings aren't going to do a thing for xi. Leave them as default and tinker with the registry settings.

Turned everything off and it's still doing it, definitely.

I was presented with a really roundabout fix (installing new drivers and a bunch of different programs to control the shimmer) but I never had those before so I figure there must be some way I'm overlooking of making it stop. >.>

Might have been something in the registry that stops this - if there is, I cannot remember what. I guess it's not as simple as i thought it would be XD

Solo, sorry. Often find myself at 99TP and a dead mob only to need to swap out to Light Staff for charm.

I think you can also Shift-Ctrl-Alt-B at character selection screen on your existing computer to backup your macros etc, then Shift-Ctrl-Alt-R on the laptop to download those settings to the new installation.

Might want to check that option out on Wiki since it could be a slightly easier solution. Bear in mind I haven't tried it myself to move macros between machines.

this is definately the way to go, if you havent already nuked the old computer. this will transfer map markers and your game config settings i think.

Edit: Forgot that I'm not 75 so I guess Rajas isn't giving me STP+5. Outside of a solo situation should I still try to avoid getting stuck at 99 TP or would it be more beneficial for me to use a higher acc+ ring over Rajas/Ecphoria.

One more question. What food(s) should I be eating in both solo and parties?

rajas' stp and subtle blow aren't scaled so you are getting the 5 stp.. still laughable to worry about macroing light staff at 99 tp though, go with rajas/toreador unless ecphoria saves a swing to 100 tp

food is based on target/buffs but typically coeurl subs(high/capped acc) marinara pizza(>85% <90% acc) or sole sushi(<85% acc) will do you well

How good is prudence rod for whm melee spamming mystic boon?
I cant afford kclub but when I get whm to 75 i want to melee in parties if possible.

Get a martial wand for boon. I go martial/perdu and it's great fun in Campaign.

It overwrites, I believe (though I have not tested). The Bull Necklace gives STR+25, not STR+29, and I'd assume all the items use the same sort of method.

Rose strap gives +20 as I recall, same as the others, Plectrum adds 10% not 11%, Cougar adds 300, not 330.

Two UI related questions.

#1. I'm looking for a plug in I've seen screenshots of before. Essentially it looks like recast but it actually outlines the buff duration for party members you act on as well. Basically, if I were to cast Haste on someone, a line would pop up looking something like this "Haste(Playerx) X:XX".

#2. Is it possible to reduce the size of the character name text above each character through any kind of UI edits? This really drives me bonkers.
