Does anyone have a source to the most recent update for FFXI? My wireless at my apartment absolutely sucks for patch downloading recently and is taking hours upon hours for even small amounts. I got Aikar's patch (thank you guy who pointed me there) but it only went up through April.

What would be a good set up for a low man Tinnin? Don't want to deal with shout peeps. I was thinking something like:

    Nin/Drk
    Pld/Nin
    Whm/Sch
    Brd/Whm
    Rdm/Whm
    Blm/Rdm

    Sam/War Thf or Nin
And have the Brd Swap parties for buffs.

Also, do we *need* to let it get all 3 heads back, or can we just fight it from 50% and have a heavy Regen instead of nasty TP moves?

    Thanks :3

Instead of PLD/NIN and NIN/DRK, just use your DDs as tanks. WAR/NIN, DRK/NIN are ideal because of provoke and stun, but SAM can do fine. Hasted and double marched should have no problem keeping shadows as long as they can bounce hate when needed.

If you start fighting it before it regens, any damage you do its already done and it wont get to 100%hp, so I dont see any reason not to damage it since the beginning. When I have done it we dont pay particular attention to the heads, just kept the melee damage flow and didnt try to keep the mob with any particular number of them. Learn the move patern it generally follows, and if your DD pseudo-tanks bring antidotes and/or holy waters, and are good at blink tanking, you can do it with as low as 2 DD/NIN, rdm, whm and bard. Thf recommended.

WAR/NIN DRK/NIN COR BRD WHM RDM THF/WHM BLM/WHM was what we did it with. The DRK died early and I was outdoing its regen, lawl. THF and BLM not very necessary for the win so that's your 6-man setup. I still wouldn't go w/o THF though.

Why Thf/Whm as opposed to Thf/Sam or Thf/Drk? I'm assuming it was for Cursna, but I may be missing something x.x

I don't think the THF was geared (like, at all) besides thief's knife, and it might have been dualboxed, too. Was just hanging around for cursna and some cures.

DRK x2 is probably the safest way, WAR or SAM x2 results in a bit faster kill. SAM doesn't gain an advantage w/ Gekko over WAR, shit's got no defense. Obligatory "how much AGI does Tinnin have?"

Omega/Ultima aren't really that resistant to debuffs, I usually land slow fine with full MND (although this includes D. chap) with one or two resists.

With full enfeebling merits, HQ staff alone should be more than enough accuracy to land debuffs reliably. (Of course this is based purely on anecdotal evidence)

Just posting to back this up. I only use HQ staff for pure m.acc (and Sturm's Report, lol), everything else is geared for mnd, and don't have any real issues landing slow/para on either mob (8/8 enfeeb). And frankly, my rdm gear isn't *that* amazing. They're very easy NMs to land enfeebs on.

so i dinged 75 mnk yesterday (squee). had a great merit pt today, and ended up unlocking penance and putting my first merit into h2h.

i'm gonna be using mnk for a lot of stuff, but more than anything, i'll be using it in salvage.

should i upgrade penance to 40 or 60 seconds first, or should i finish h2h and then come back to mnk specific merits? on a related note, i already know that i'm going 5/5 counter, 5/5 kick attacks, and 5/5 penance. any suggestions on how to spend the remaining five merits of group 2? my guess is formless strikes, but other than slimes in einherjar, i can't really come up with a practical use for it. then again, invigorate and mantra don't seem that awesome either.

Just one merit in Formless Strikes is enough; I've never seen anyone say that extra ones were worth it, whilst Mantra and Invigorate can have some nice, niche uses.

As for the order you should do 'em in... I'll leave that for a more hardcore mnk. I was already at 20/20 combat merits when I dinged 75, and only ended up using my mnk very rarely aside from soloing FoVs. I'd imagine, though, that getting some H2H merits will be your best start.

For a 75 WAR w/ Gaxe...figuring 5/5 double attack merits, is it still beneficial to use a pole grip? The way I have it set now...the rose strap can put me at 6 hit build, and I was thinking that using the Rose to get 6 hits is better than an extra 2% double attack. I mainly use my WAR in situations where acc isnt a problem

Are those situations such that having Berserk up for longer wouldn't be useful? And 6 hit will always trump an extra 2% DA.

WAR doesn't need Rose Strap for a 6-hit unless you don't have a Rajas. Yes, 6-hit is much better than 2% DA. It's a 20% increase in weaponskill frequency, so about 10% more total damage w/ a .5 WS/TP ratio.

5/5 Double Attack + 5/5 Berserk is the best WAR merit distribution, by the way, regardless of anything else.

Someone mentioned a program named Sandboxie helps quite a bit with security:

    Sandboxie - Frequently Asked Questions

I've read the FAQ's and am still a bit confused. Does this program run in the background and do its job or do you need to load programs through it? I'm trying to figure out if it's a major hassle to use or just something that will run in the background and enhance my security.

A suggestion was made to actually deliberately lower the duration by using something like an Earth staff so you could spam stuns and the mob would stay locked.
Did anything definitive come from it? I spent a good half hour searching before I even posted the question and couldn't find it.

From what I've heard of it, it works pretty well as a virtual machine for your browser/e-mail. You load firefox while in sandboxie and any crap you get during that session is contained and wiped away when you close it. That said, last I heard it doesn't work on windows 7, but their website has windows 7 versions available, so they must have figured it out.

Also, for what it's worth, noscript + updating your crap is usually enough.

I agree with this, though I still go with Pole Grip, the extra hits from RR/KJ combined with the hit or two I generally take between WS' makes a 6-hit in practice even when I'm short of a natural 6-hit.

I also use Askar body for a natural one with Agg/Hasso up, but again I rarely need it, ride Hasso, use Retaliation, get money.

This said, I've seen some really fucked up Omegas recently, twice in the last couple of months we've had ones that were for some reason extremely resistant to Slow/Elegy, and our last one went really odd and got stuck in 2-leg mode for about 3 times as long as normal, was all kinds of messed up.
