I think "getting lucky" woulda been getting the drop 70+ runs ago.
If you're curious about the reasoning, it's mainly in hopes of helping others. I often find myself volunteering to help someone...
Then it's... Me+Him... and that's it, we're stuck. (no one else we know is online, or whatever, etc)
...so in those cases, it's good to know what's duoable using DRK+RDM zerg, that otherwise would be either very difficult or impossible to duo (or trio, or solo/duo with a leech, whatever).
However, it's probably because KC is nowhere near "necessary" for a lot of this stuff (like you said, easy with 4+ people, etc) that I haven't heard people zerg-duoing it.
I do intend to certainly help my various LS's with the more common zergs (DL for example), but if I can volunteer my services, knowing the target mob is not immune/resistant to soul eater, I would absolutely love to go out helping random people [once every two hours].
Does that make more sense?
also, being ~500 shells away from Gullintani,
and then ~3600 coins from Mjollnir after that,
makes me one of those idiot WHM/NIN weirdos...
...like IZZY! <3
Not by itself, but Gear Collector should be able to do it if you modify your SpellCast files to work with it. I've never tried it myself, but it's been something I've been meaning to set up for months now.
Stuff that's duoable with a kc that isn't duoable without a kc assuming well equipped players that know what they're doing and have a couple jobs:
PM7-5
I'm in no way trying to criticize what you use it for, simply point out that it honestly doesn't simplify many things of the sort you're talking about. While a good few can be duoed using KC zerg, it'll have a lower success rate than simply duoing them with a standard strategy, KC shines in situations where you have proper support and particularly for the few I listed earlier.Originally Posted by RyaWHM
First off, thank you everyone for the RDM advice, that was exactly what I was looking for.
Thalandor, personally I prefer 5 Chivalry/4 Guardian/1Fealty, although 5 Guardian/ 4 Fealty/ 1 Chivlary is a good setup if you're not into soloing much on PLD and always have plenty of support. (Refresh/Ballad).
I'm tempted to go 5 Chivalry/5 Fealty, but I'd never consider Iron Will, a proper spell interrupt/Shield Skill setup is always active, compared to spending merits to have it active for a few seconds every few minutes.
But that's not all! Tell him what he's won, Bob!
I had a possible variance of ~2 HP in my results (due to my inferior method) so I retested...
Well, you'd better read my new thread.![]()
The testing is the magic damage formula, we know how to calculate magic damage on monsters and it works the same when it is mosters casting on us, therefore increasing your INT (or MND for white magic nukes) will reduce the damage taken.
Yes the fireball attacks will be INT based.
No simply stacking INT will not be sufficient to make a resist set.
Refresh is 1 MP every 3 seconds
1hMP is 1 MP every 10 seconds.
So basically refresh = 3.33 hMP.
But if you account for the first tick being 20 seconds you are normally better of using refresh unless you can get 5+hMP in the same slot (the exactly turning point is dependent on how long you rest)
No worries, you're fine! I appreciate the input, I'm really just trying to gather information... I don't care if it's what I wanna hear or not, as long as it's true.
I don't hear much about lowman stuff anymore, esp. strictly duo, other than Limbus/Sea.
Even then, it's the kind of thing that can take an obscene amount of time, like dotting stuff solo/duo for hours, things like that. I'd rather get it done quickly, if it's possible to do so.
What will be an ideal setup for a low-man Byakko? Say 6-8 man?
NIN/DRK x 3 + BRD/WHM x2 + RDM/DRK + WHM/SCH? 4 stuns, double marches and DoT from NINs katanas. 3 WHMs /WHMs for paralyna duty.
Or will a setup like PLD/NIN x2 + RDM/WHM + WHM/SCH + BRD/WHM + 1-3 DDs be better?
...NIN katanas?
RDM/NIN SAM/THF WHM/SCH BRD/WHM is perhaps possible, but risky.
OK friend and I were discussing is 2 x Toreador's Ring over kill? If so what's better?
A few specifics: level 60 so has no weapon merits yet, does have Peacock Charm, and doesn't have Rajas Ring.
It's not overkill. Rajas and Blitz are situationally better, though.
I have beeni leveling DRK recently, which has fully pre merted skill (although only 7 are active @ lvl 60).
@ 60 on colibri with capped skill and average gear (NQ haub, 5 acc rings, chiv chain, etc) my hit rate was 85-90% (no food), depending on how much I could ride Hasso.
So I had ~6 accuracy from merits, so overal (assuming the rest of his gear is similar to mine was and he is a 2 hander, san PCC and rings) he would be ~3 accuracy ahead of me.
Which would put him very close to capped, but I doubt it would be overkill. If he gets acc songs/acc JA (aggressor etc) then he could use Blitz ring (if he can wear it)
When I've done it we've had PLD/NINx2, RDM/WHM, WHM, BRD/BLM for one party, and then a second party of DD. Last time second party was BRD/WHM, THF, WAR, and a BLM dual boxed by one of the PLDs. 8 actual people, so around what you're talking.
Having the stuns is nice though, but you might go with DRK DDs for that too. NIN Katana DoT would be pretty crappy. PLDs do alright with Atonement, but even then, accuracy is horrible getting TP for it. IMO, you do want an actual DD or two in there, not just tank damage.
I'm still not sure what kind of stuff you're talking about, with regards to sea:
Jailer of Fortitude - Low enough hp and damage output, but pdt- makes KC useless
Jailer of Temperance - Will change out of blunt mode due to damage before it dies, probably will straight out kill drk, can't be stunned
Jailer of Faith - will slowga your drk(needs erase and haste) or straight out kill them, can't be stunned
Ix'Mnk - can't be stunned, will kill drk with melee
Ix'drk - will reraise anyway and also can't be stunned and might kill drk with melee
Ix'drg - probably can be KC zerged but i doubt drk and rdm/drk can kill phs very quickly.. and they compose the majority of the fight time so you'll end up taking longer than a blm rdm duo would
I'm not sure how specific you're meaning to be, but I think you have more freedom than you're giving credit for. You could replace the brd/whm with a white mage or scholar and a nin/drk with a pld/nin and be fine. I'm not saying which way is better or worse, but I think any 2 tanks works really, and 2 brds shouldn't be necessary, though just 1 rdm + brd/blm may be low on support, any extra support shout be ok really imo.
