I'm looking into the item I believe were stolen (Blessed Mitts +1) and I found a NQ set on me. I'm wondering if anyone has had data corrupted or something that would cause them to become NQ. It's the only other explanation I can think of beside my account getting hacked while I was gone for 4 months.

You'd have to be rich, or crazy to buy that account now.
I'm really curious as to how much it will go for now, prices are near worthless since XIV was announced. I don't see it going for more than $5000-$6000 now when it would have been like $20000 a year ago lol.

Anyone know where to get the new gearmod or a program that changes race/armor/ect?

Never use the clock "glitch". You move so super fast that it's difficult to get where you want to go, and it's incredibly dangerous besides. Also my PC died a few days after messing around with it, which is probably just a coincidence, but it's just another incentive not to try.

My token is deactivated, trying to update my SEPW and Secret question and answer, and it suddenly starts asking me for the SE one time password. Is this a glitch?

It's like POS hacking basically. As far as the server sees, you're one place one moment and the other the next (like when you watch someone DC and then pretty much warp somewhere else). It may get you killed more often than it works though, just because you're sitting there at the start of the pots with Ix'Drk beating on you until you plug back in as far as the server knows.

I've used the ghetto-POS hacking before (discovered it accidentally) but I could never mess with my clock to try the Flee hacking. It's dangerous. I really don't recommend using either.
Yeah, ghetto teleport is pretty useful, but with one strike on my account, I stopped using it.

What I was using it for

    - In sky (genbu entrance), you fake dc near entrance, and run behind the first gate. Because it wont load while you dc, you can always get past it, even if it's closed.
    - In sea, walk through blue pot room, walk pass fast rotating pot in corner (work for any aggro)
    - Outrun fast monsters (more like get an headstart instead of having it bite your ass while you're escaping.)
    - Run to a safe place before dying for easier raise

Yeah, it's a pretty useful trick. I've heard GMs treat it the same as POS hacking though.

I don't know when exactly I figured out I could do it, but I used it a few times to run past the pots and to the elevator. Makes the duo Ix'Drk pull from the northern spawns a little easier. You mess up your internet just before you run into the pot alleyway and go through the door up towards the elevator. You can plug back in when you get to the elevator or do it right when you get through the door depending how confident you are in your lead/shadows/pdt gear. Either way, after your connection recovers you wait until the Ix and whatever else has linked you catches up and enters the room for your duo partner to pull off.

Could die/RR -> Utsu + Pull if you were solo and balsy, I guess. Really, it's a little too risky for me to try to do solo because you could die when DCed if you have a real crowd of mobs following you and no one would be around to chase it and stop depop. Safer to pull it other ways.
Possibly equally an exploit, but another way to pull it from the north rooms is to get some distance on it kiting it around the entrance, then run to the teleporter and get into the door menu. When he gets close enough (in the same room at least) hit "Yes". He'll deagro when he tries to hit you during CS and you'll walk through the door. If he's from a northern spawn point, he'll walk through the door as well and you can re-claim him.
Should be obvious, but for southern spawn points if you're duoing you can just run to opposite cardinal direction (or Northern) spots and really DC. That way he deagros and walks back through the porter, where your partner can claim him.

Eventually a friend saw me do the ghetto POS warp and told me that if a GM saw that I'd be banned, so I stopped. I never used it to do anything I couldn't have done another way, but it was just novel for me to finally have a way to jump around on PS2 like I always saw people doing back before they really started banning for POS hacking. It's not exactly the same because you aren't moving from one point to another instantly, but it's still useful. There's no real way they could fix this glitch without crippling the game, either.

I dont know anyone who got jailed for walking a long distance during a red pearl, so there is probably an exception in their autojail algorithm.

Someone posted here a while ago saying they got auto-jailed for d/c'ing en route to Khim then re-establishing their connection before they got booted, same as what these guys are talking about but unintentional.

I think you get auto-jailed either for DCing and traveling further or faster before connection recovery than the game approximates is possible. Those are probably just basic filters put in to catch POS hackers. That said, I don't think anyone will be banned for DCing and reconnecting unless the GM is watching them and sees them do something that would be blatantly nonsensical (like run towards the pot lane trailing an Ix'Aern) and then do the trick.

Still, for instance, if you were someone who habitually used this to get to Khimaira and your competition-LS knew you were coming, they could theoretically GM you for it in advance. Or if a GM just happens to be watching (probably never the case) you could be screwed. It wasn't *thaaat* useful and it was a risk to my account, so I stopped using it.

As an example for how this would be difficult for SE to differentiate from POS hacking, think about the oldschool Castle O RMT. They'd stand perfectly still somewhere random and as soon as Mee Deggi popped they'd auto-warp straight to where he was and Provoke. Still, a clever bot designer could probably make it hard to differentiate someone standing perfectly still and someone DCing server-side. In which case it would be hard to tell if he'd POS hacked or ran there while DCing and got really lucky with the pop. Sure, when it happens every pop for two months I'm sure anyone with a brain could tell, but telling the difference on a case-by-case basis is probably why it took SE so long to make an autobanner in the first place.

I wasnt saying it was impossible, it's just that I never heard of anyone getting banned for this until now (and it's not uncommon to walk a long distance with a red pearl). It's obviously ban worthy if a GM catch you abusing this, but the "red pearl" is a good alibi.

There is no difference from a movement perspective, but the "red pearl teleport" is preceded by a long moment without any packet received from the client, while players telehacking constantly send data to the server. It wouldn't be hard to code an exception that ignore red pearl.

I guess. I'm just trying to rationalize why SE waited so many years to start the auto-banning program. If they weren't keeping track of packet timestamps or something then it could have been difficult to implement an autobanning program.

I've got a totally random question, people always mention the rusty caps issue causing massive inflation. What exactly was the rusty cap thing anyways?

    1) Fish up Rusty Cap
    2) Rusty Cap + Light Crystal -> Padded Cap
    3) ???
    4) Profit!

Just NPC for profit. RMT would sit around fishing up a ton of caps with level 1 fishing bots and run them to town with a character where they'd have a Smithing mule synth them and NPC them. NQ was worth about 2.5-3k and HQ was worth a little more.
For a while they gimped the NPC value. Now they've just completely changed the recipe to result in Plain Caps because people would synth Padded caps and then (I think?) desynth them for Iron Ingots or just NPC them for the 1k they could get.

They definitively had a log that kept track of time and position years before the auto-ban program (GM knew you were telehacking many hours after the fact if someone made a call).

They later added an "auto-flag" program that would flag your account whenever you tele hack, and it was replaced recently with the auto-ban.

Smart money was in Rabao. There's a Nomad Moogle to send Light Crystals from, and a couple Galka NPCs on the north side of the oasis. There used to be so much lag in that zone, it was worse than Jeuno AH ever got.

You would also get a message saying 'You could not enter this area.' if you tried to zone before a set time period.. I'm guessing roughly the amount of time it'd take to run across the zone in the ideal path using flee fulltime. It was only noticable if you speedhacked well above flee speed or warped across zones straight off. This existed as early as 2005.

Yet, Rabao was better then than it is now.

Anyone has an ideal setup to break the imp's horn? Was thinking of thf + rogue's roll. If so, will it be better to use mkris and Tp it till it break or hand to hand and spam backhand blow?
Needed the imp horn to skill my bonecraft and i bought out all the horns on AH. And which imp do you suggest, orderly imp or heraldic imp? Latter seems a little too dangerous and former lacks hp to sustain i suppose.

Is there any way to weaken the armored chariot boss for Arrapago remnants in salvage? Was thinking mainly that the 4th floor chariot appeared to lower defence but wasn't 100% sure. I know some areas have this but wasn't sure about this zone.
