Instant ramen with fresh produce (meat, veggies, eggs) is a great quick meal. I prefer noodle & soup then a sammich. Must be a white thing. Lol. Besides the dry ramen noodles, there is a huge variety of fresh noodles. Should check it out at any asian grocery store. Combine with chicken broth for a quick meal. Pho is amazing too.
sorry for the bump but i did a little experiment.
i bought those other package noodles like the others suggested, and noticed no difference whatsoever compared to the 25 cent ones.
im guessing it was more expensive because it came with some extra powder seasoning? and some small crumpled up veggies? but i actually didn't use either. i took the advice on the board and i got the ginger spice to soak in the noodles so that even after its done cooking, it came out with flavor, and i put some of the chili paste garlic sauce on there too.
i chopped up some onion, put some frozen stir fry veggies on there/mushrooms and some shrimp and it came out the same exact texture regardless.
im not complaining, it still taste good. but when you're broke like me, i rather just do this with a 25 cent soup pack than the 2 dollar ones. all in all, i made enough for like 3 ppl, and enough for 10 more packs, so this was dirt cheap to make.

I keep it simple but I usually add some form of cheese and chicken.
I used to eat corn and ramen noodles. I don't know why I liked it so much.

I buy these type here in the US at our International supermarket (wegmans).
If I was back in Japan, I would like to eat Hakata Ramen

This one has a thick, milky beef based soup and somewhat harder noodles.
i guess you lucky Californians can go to a Hakata ramen place:

I finally tried Mi Goreng ramen for the first time, and I must say, it is GODLY. Best instant noodles I've ever had. Period.

Bit spicy, bit sweet, all win.
I think thats one of the big things I miss about SoCal.. Shinsengumi Hakata Ramen. Loved that place. Also miss the carne asada fries at like every 24hr Mexican restaurant.. hah.
I just made ramen tonight.. had it with some bbq pork, an egg, scallions, a ton of spinach, and some fish balls. Nom.
Do I need to go to a international market or some shit to find that kind of Ramen? All they sell at Walmart is Top, hook me up.
I've never seen that brand in the many asian markets I've been in, so it might be regional or something. This is the brand and flavor my family used for the past... 10 years or so

Also, people mentioned adding in leftover meats... we sometimes add in leftover fried chicken from Popeyes. You know how fried chicken isn't ever as good the second day+ well it's pretty good with ramen :D
Ooh I totally didn't notice this thread before. I prefer udon, like Kiro, but here's a great recipe that I really love to make (and it's super easy!), and you can have it with basically any sort of noodle, or just by itself even!.
Ingredients:
chicken stock/broth
soy sauce
brown sugar
chili sauce (or chili flakes)
lime juice
fresh ginger, peeled and cut into small slices
chicken breast, cut into strips
cornstarch
sliced mushrooms (shiitake or button, I prefer button for this recipe)
snow peas
a red capsicum, deseeded and sliced
lime zest (from the lime you used for juice!)
fresh coriander/cilantro
noodles (optional), prepared (boiled or microwaved or w/e) -- I prefer udon for this, because they're thick and tasty and bring out the flavour of the soup.
* put the broth, soy, sugar, chili, lime juice and ginger together and boil for 5 mins
* coat the chicken pieces in corn starch (this makes it super super juicy and tasty)
* add the chicken and mushies to the broth and simmer for 10 mins
* take the saucepan off the heat and stir in everything else, then pour over prepared noodles.
YUM YUM.

on ramen = delicious
Boil water
Throw in Ramen
Add spice packet
Stir occasionally until noodles separate + a minute or so
Strain
Add Ranch, Parmesan cheese, and shredded cheddar (or whatever yellow cheese we have on hand)
Eat
Usually eaten with a side of Garlic Bread and a glass of Milk.
To those that add the noodles right at the start, don't they stick together that way?
I know with spaghetti if you don't boil the water before adding the pasta, it'll come out terrible and be all lumped together with poor texture.
