In all fairness, pictures don't do it justice. That's a split second of a follow through of someone probably bombing a disc 400-500'. Or to put it in more layman's terms for those that have never played, throwing a disc somewhere between 70-80 mph. There is a ton of force generated to toss a little piece of plastic that far.

Golf is a sport, therefore disc golf is a sport, and although it isn't as popular, it is just as legitimate.

Plow, you got your units wrong on a distance throw, we measure in feet in DG. World record throw is ~821', not sure of the exact number but it is definitely over 800' for sure. Of course, that is nearly 300 yards...

There's bigger records than that, on downhill courses. (Aspen specifically)

The record for the longest "2" on a hole, someone threw *past* the basket on a 13xx foot hole, then made the shot coming back.

Of course there's going to be long drives when you throw off a mountain! I've found a few good river bluffs to toss off of, it's a lot of fun throwing trash discs for what seems like miles.
