the way this thread's title is phrased made me ponder the question: would you bone a zombie?

and I thought about it, and if there were no risk that the zombie would try to eat my brains, and it was really hot... I think I would. I think I would.

although, to be fair, more than 99% of zombies are probably not in good enough condition to be considered hot. but you never know. maybe somebody just recently died of a heart attack and hasn't started decaying yet. it could happen.

Zumbi in Hati basically. The voodoo priest gives the victim drugs that causes paralysis and makes them close to death to the point that it's impossible to realize they're alive it also has some other mind altering properties. The people put you in your grave. Then the guy digs you up and puts you to work. They feed you a new cocktail of drugs to keep you under control.
Since the drugs made you think you died ad was resurrected plus you aren't exactly in the state of mind to argue with the all powerful necromancer you do what you as a zombie happen to be expected to do. Salt counteracts these drugs hence the rule about if a zombie is fed salt it becomes "normal".(that last part never really made it into Hollywood but you at least saw it in one piece.)

That's how it got started.

Oh and as for that nonsense about the human mind being too complex to be altered. 50% of Britain is infected by a mind altering protozoan that cats spread. nearly 100% of France as well as other countries in Europe are infected by it. Scientists assumed(out of arrogance about mankind being too awesome ?) that the human brain couldn't be altered and controlled the way they now are discovering it can be by thee protozoans. In fact they do it quite easily.

I don't know what to say. I'm partly trying not to overreact about that, but on the other hand, the lack of distinction for readers not deep into science about speculation/facts - correlation/causations is troubling. Interesting findings though.

Just a note, but it was a class project.

Prof. SMITH?: It was actually a class project. I was teaching a course in disease modeling. And I said to the students, you can do anything you like as long as it's disease. And one group came up and said, well, we have an idea, but it's a little bit out of the box. And I said, sure. You know, what have you got? And they said, zombies. And I think they thought I'd shoot it down, but actually I said, go for it. That sounds really great.

And it was just a fun way of really illustrating some of the process that you might have in modeling and infectious disease.
