JDM or nothing yo! Seriously though, I'd look into a gas sipping Camry/Corolla/Accord/Civic. I'm sure you can get a decent one for around $4,000. It's definitely a buyer's market, unless you meet a really stubborn seller.
Do you have any places around your city where people tend to put their cars for sale? There is a street near me that has cars for sale lined up every Sunday. I'd check those out if I were you, usually those people sell for much cheaper. It isn't because the cars are bad or anything, but those people don't resort to online ads and more than likely don't look up stuff on KBB.

I know lincoln does a lot of fleet sales to rental agencies, not sure if this model is one of those cars. Models that are used as rentals, even if the particular car never was a rental will always book low.
