You can still DL the client ahead of time for pre-ordering from a store like Gamestop, Amazon, ect... Only diff from NCsoft is that you can upgrade your account to a CE version in order "only" to get the in-game codes (since retailers are sold out now I think).

Has there been any word yet when OB starts? I was almost expecting to have it this weekend (ie, for them to just continue CB scheduling of every other weekend).

I know a lot of ppl who played each CB event are still excited for OB because it will be version 1.5. But hell, it's a lot of work to get a character 23-25+ (again, just to be wiped) to where you will notice any "real" diff in quests / xp. Nothing will be changed 1-20, and I don't think new quests are being added under lv 25 (may be wrong). I just want to be able to DL the 1.5 patch lol

New faces and stuff will keep me entertained for a bit, and I'll probably try a class I've not played up to 20, but mostly yeah having the 1.5 patch prior to the 20th will be clutch.

Not sure if i'm even gonna bother with the OB. I've leveled 6 characters from the CB's to CH-Aion. I get the first 20 levels already. Maybe just mess around with crafting or fuck around with friends, but that's about it.

Within the next four weeks, NCsoft will treat North American and European gamers to two opportunities to jump into the world of Aion and explore Atreia as Asmodian or Elyos characters ahead of its release in North America on September 22 and Europe September 25. Aion's Open Beta Test featuring version 1.5 will take place September 6 - 13 and will include numerous Western enhancements, including improvements to Aion's innovative character customization with a host of Western styles, as well as new zones, instances, skills, quests and continued game balancing and improvements. Open Beta will retain a level cap for both Elyos and Asmodians characters at 30 allowing players to focus on getting to the same level so they can explore the lands of Atreia together, as well as the Abyss.

Players who have preordered Aion will be treated to a Pre-Select and a two-day Headstart period giving them the opportunity to explore, organize and progress through the game prior to the official launch. Pre-Select will take place on September 18, while Aion's Headstart will begin September 20.

Open beta (make sure to at least DL the 1.5 client patch): 9/6 - 13/09
Pre-selection (most important thing yet!): 9/18/09
Headstart: 9/20/09

One of the producer's tweets said they are hoping to get the updated client ready today- or tomorrow-ish. Wonder if it will still let you have elyos and asmo on the same server?

Any idea where we can download the 1.5 client? Was thinking it might be on Steam but they only have the final release version (which isn't available until 9/21).

Open beta client isn't out yet, you could get the CBT client and get it up to date for that, but with the amount of data 1.5 adds I'm not sure if it's like downloading the entirety of it again or not.

Hopefully the OB client is the same as CBT, just a patch to get it to 1.5; if that's the case it shouldn't be too bad, maybe 1-2gigs?
