I think with your situation, you should go with the Wenger. Their bags are famously durable, which sounds like what you'd want since you're on a bike so much. I love the one I have, but I think you have slightly different needs since you're going to school and not on vacation or business trips.

And lol @ the designer bag suggestions. I think you'd get shot by gay-hating rednecks if you biked around with one of those messenger bags

Winn-Dixie bags are an excellent suggestion They're like the poor man's duct tape.

Fannie packs, satchels and those wheely suitcases are also acceptable substitutions.

Those Swiss Army backpacks are pretty nice and you could always go with a Jansport. They have some decent ones for about 30 bucks but it is worth it to shell out the big bucks for a nice one.

Again I'd rather go for total space seeing as I like to bring my laptop and the cooler for it as well (zalaman 2000) and the peg from the pics i saw has enough a pocket where I could easily stick my pencils/pens and what not, don't need 1000 mini compartments.

I have that exact same bag (in the pic) and it kinda blows. It always feels like it's going to burst when I use it. I don't even put my laptop in it but with like a standard textbook and 1 3 subject notebook I feel like I'm pushing the limit. Next time I buy a backpack I'm staying away from swissgear garbage. The zipper doesn't allow any room for expansion either. I tried putting my xbox in it once and that practically took the zipper off the track.

If you want total space then go with the Pegasus. With my laptop, DS, PSP, some xbox games, chargers, and spare change of clothes I still have room to spare. You'll be searching for things to put in it...
