    Heh

"If they decriminalize drugs it could lead the army, which has been given the task of combating this, to say 'What are we doing'?" he said.
Maybe they should be asking that now. [Deity of your choice] forbid people actually try to figure things out.

I thought people went to Mexico for the over-the-counter prescription drugs, not the pot and coke.

Anyone caught with drug amounts under the new personal-use limit will be encouraged to seek treatment, and for those caught a third time treatment is mandatory.
Also, seems there can still be a "punishment" for possession and, regardless, I wouldn't want to be a gringo caught with anything in Mexico outside of a resort.

Shit, I wouldn't want to be a gringo outside a resort in Mexico period.

Portugal decriminalized posession of all narcotics including heroin. Nothing changed other than the junkies began going to the hospitals and clinics to take care of themselves (no longer afraid of being arrested). All the critics thought it would turn into a giant drug den, but nothing was further from the truth. I think they had a census that showed drug use actually went down a little.

I love how you can generalize a whole nation based on Bordertown violence.

I'm not vacationing here in the US because of the violence in Gary, IN!

    Do you? Seriously do you?

Please, Please, Please Post an anecdotal story about some town in mexico where someone was killed to back up your story. Or even a news story just so I can prove my point.

Basically, people who want to do drugs will do drugs, against the law or not. People who don't, won't. Pretty simple lol, I think the main reason US doesn't legalize drug possession is cause they don't want to put up with the uptight soccer moms picketing and rioting in the streets.

Many, many people go to Amsterdam 100% purely for the pot and no other reason.

It also happens to be one of the safest places in the world, thanks to the whole not turning 70% of the population into criminals forced to deal with "back alleys" and blah blah blah.
